I would love to hear you speak on fatherhood! Appreciated your article...sometimes in the moments I most feel I have nothing to give, God works a miracle. It's encouraging to remember that He is the strength in our weakness.

As Patton famously said, "Plans seldom survive first contact with the Enemy". Glad to see you got the job done.

Joanne - my heart aches for you. We cannot say why the Lord chooses to work through your son in the way that He has. We can continue to praise the Lord and worship Him. May you and your family be comforted by the true Comforter.

Tony - I was going to say that God works in mysterious ways, but there's nothing mysterious about your journey. By not having the usual time to prepare, the Holy Spirit was allowed to work through you and minister to your audience. In our quest to be perfect fathers (and mothers) we sometimes forget to rely on the Lord.

For those of you who have never done it and may have the opportunity in the future, I strongly urge you to try and speak in front of a church group, even if it's only your testimony. At the very least you'll get an inkling of what your pastor goes through every week, and it'll help curb your criticism of him. Who knows, you may even be blessed far beyond what you expected.

I always look forward to seeing Tony Woodlief on a byline. Your articles have been such an encouragement to me. I kept the one you did on 'fear' in WORLD awhile back.

I have a 7 year old son with autism, epilepsy and a por-encephalitic cyst (part of his brain is dead). He had a biopsy for cancer last week, this week I'll get the results. I'm glad you are open to God working through you. Thanks

As Lennon wrote "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans".
I made a point of always listening a bit more attentively to a now deceased pastor I knew in Austin Tx after he admitted how he had once been caught telling a lie to his wife.
Not only did he have a failing but he loved and trusted us all enough to share it.
