An illness, or possible illness, in a child is a frightening and traumatic experience. Given the history of the relationship between Christianity and people accused of witchcraft, it is perhaps not all that amusing when these uneasy topics come up. People in America tend to seize on the Salem witchcraft trials. While those were an ugly occurrence, they are actually a rather small part of our history, and blew over fairly quickly. This history of Christians and persecution of witches in Europe is a much larger, uglier, and longer-standing disgrace, one that involves both Catholics and Protestants. By and large, we seem to be over such terrible events, but for those of us who are not Christians, the readiness of Christians at worldmagblog to present themselves as victims on the brink of persecution is not as persuasive to non-Christians here as many seem to think it should be. Christians have been persecuted at many times in history and in many locations, and I do not make light of it. Christians have also done quite a bit of persecuting; often of each other. Good is called evil and evil is called good. I am so sorry to see that death is celebrated instead of life. It seems that the only thing that causes offense any more is the Name of the One who loved the world so much He was willing to suffer and die for us. Well, anyway, on a lighter note, it looks like my son's biopsy turned out benign! The doctor said he would have called by now if it was cancer. Thanks to those of you who prayed for him.
