Gas and Google and go
The good ole days of stopping at a service station and asking the attendant for directions (only to find out “You can’t get there from here”) are fast coming to a close. For those of you who don’t already own a GPS device, you’ll soon be able to access Google maps while you fill ’er up at the pump. Now wives can start nagging their obstinate husbands to pull over and Google for directions.

Awesome idea!
I can’t count on all my fingers and toes the number of times I’ve printed out the directions from Google or Mapquest or Rand McNally, only to leave them at home.
And my GPS, while cool, is more oriented for hiking than giving driving directions. Or, was more oriented, until I lost it. It knows precisely where it is.. but.. I don’t! Is that irony?

Well, mapquest is sometimes wrong, but I far prefer it to trying to figure out a map. If I have to use a map, I figure out directions the night before. In a car, with the map in front of me, some map-reading disability kicks in and I cannot figure anything out. I don’t know how practical mapquest-at-the-pump will be, but as a person who doesn’t pay for expensive gadgets liek GPS, it seems to me it might level the playing field a bit!
