Clinton caught planting questions
The Hillary Clinton campaign is in the limelight again, this time for apparently planting questions during campaign stops. Clinton insists she didn’t know about the planted questions, but that’s not stopping her rivals from criticizing her. Nor is it helping to dispel concerns that Clinton is uncomfortable with difficult questions and too reliant on carefully scripted events. But is this really that big of a deal, or is it something that should concern voters?

Too reliant on carefully scripted events????
You mean like the Presidential Advance Manual????
Too, too rich. The White plants reporters and gives fake news conferences. She just makes sure some questions referring to some of her policies are asked.
Man, you guys really hate her. Is it because Monica wasn’t a dude? One has to ask.

I would like to know what questions she has not been asked. How about a list?

I think it’s indicative of the character of the candidate and her staff. I also think that if she is elected, we can expect the most corrupt, tainted, damaging administration ever…moreso than her felonious husband.

After all the chaos and un-scripted disunity of 1968, I think both parties realized that they needed to stage events better. The media went along with that charade.
I think other candidates have probably done this tactic of planting questions among their audiences. I’m curious just how they were able to conceal it when Mrs C couldnt.

I’d be very surprised if other candidates were not also doing this. To me, it just seems like a way to make sure your message gets out. I think it is also true that opponents probably “stage” questions asked another candidate, hoping to trip them up. If they are questions some people are going to want answers to anyway, why would it be a big deal?

Just for the record, I’m not specifically defending Hillary. I have no plans to vote for her. I’m just not too shook up by the tactic in general.

I pretty much agree with Janie. It’s not that big a deal.
If people aren’t worried about her socialist policy ideas, then they probably won’t worry about her campaign strategies.

Back in the dark ages when I was in college and Jane Fonda’s then-husband Tom Hayden was running for some office, she came and spoke to a group of college students. I covered the story for The Dail Bruin and stood in the back with my hand in the air the entire Q&A period while supporter after supporter was called on to ask questions.
I can remember my lead all these years later:
“Speaking in generalities on emotion-charged subjects, Jane Fonda took questions from her supporters last night at Sproul Hall.”
It’s been going on for years and frankly, I’d be surprised at a candidate who doesn’t at least salt the audience–how else will your message get out the way you want it to?

Michelle said it. And Kyle said the rest. This has been going on for a long time. Bush has been criticized many times for stagin invite-only “town hall”-type events, so it’s hardly surprising that The Hill does it too. What’s most surprising is that her well-run campaign got caught at it. And the public will generally respond with a resounding, “So what?” Planted questions are probably the least alarming thing about Hillary as a candidate.

Hillary’s skill at finessing political controversies is not an issue for voters, who can know everything they need to know to make an informed decision about her candidacy. Her skill at finessing controversy is a problem for her political oponents, the other Democratic candidates now, and all Republicans later. Democratic voters should know that all their candidates have pretty terrific policy proposals, some better than others, but all vast improvements over the Bush regime. Their choice comes down to personalities. On the other hand, Republicans have much to fear, and will try for dear life to deconstruct Hillary or the eventual nominee in order to prevent Democratic policies that have a good chance of being spectacularly successful. All the more reason to oppose the Democrats. But Hillary will need to continue to finesse the negative forces in politics in order to hold together a precarious consensus. Democrats, take heart, she’s good at it. Republicans, you are going to have to learn to do battle on the field of substance rather than on the secondary personal characteristics of Hillary Rodham.

Not a big deal. I suspect we are going to be subject to a blizzard of anti-Hillary posts on here in the coming days. I’m not a pro-Hillary supporter, but I do find the hysteria on the right about her to be fascinating. I’ve said it before, the “Swift Boating” of John Kerry will be child’s play compared to what is in store for Hillary or whomever the Democratic nominee is. Sadly, early indication are that WorldMag may well be a part of that.

Bill Clinton Says ‘Boys’ Tough on Wife
Poor, poor Hillary – - and her husband says below “those boys have been getting tough on her lately.” – - – - sounds more like someone crying that her ‘pig tails’ were pulled. Maybe the so called “boys” will start calling her the ‘cry baby girl’ – but what happened to the hair ribbons? LOL

I really don’t get this issue. Everyone does this. And not just at the presidential level. All the local candidates I have worked for do this and have it done to them. If there’s a debate, you try to stack the room and hope that some of your people will get called on. It’s Campaign 101.

My worry is that even the wooly Democrats are catching on to the shallowness and perfidy of Hillary, allowing Obama to snatch the Dem nomination, thusly providing the Republicans to a probably unbeatable candidate.
On the other hand the Dems having nominated Gore and Kerry have an infinite capacity to soldier on with beatable politicians.

Excuse the abominable syntax in the above.

Anlir — If HRC is nominated, I’ll fall into formation. Until then, I’m rooting for the guys. The way I see it, things are so bad, the party has more to lose from a Hillary defeat than it can gain from a Hillary election. Whose name do Democrats want on the ballot in the event of a loss? We’ll just hate ourselves if it’s her. And what sane political party wants to win anyway when the damage is more than any party can repair?
As you predict, the swift boats will be cruising in these waters. Evangelical politics is addicted to secondary personal characteristics. The slams are the one thing is sure to stoke my enthusiasm for Hillary.
Anlir, what do you think are the chances that evangelicals themselves actually will blame Bill Clinton for their support of George Bush? “If we hadn’t been so desparate to restore decency to the White House, we wouldn’t have marched as to war, nor into war. If you vote for Hillary we’ll give you another evangelical Bush.”

Scroop,
We’ve already seen plenty of blaming everything on Clinton for the last 7 years. Even though he’s been out of office all this time, he still gets blamed for stuff. When your guy is doing as badly as Bush, you look around for someone to blame. I predict that 20 years from now conservatives will still be blaming everything on Clinton. Of course, it might be on Hillary Clinton by that time

Hillary is a red herring.

Too late, Bush has already beat everybody to that punch. What’s funny, the Repbublicans spent 70 million in taxpayer money to “get” her and her husband. 70 million, 8 years and all they got was Monica. Yea, you got it, that’s proof. Sorry, you guys are so pathetic. The most investigated Americans in history and the only thing they could find was Monica.
Now, who was Jeff Gannon????

President Bush is saving our hind-ends, whether we like it or not.
No other President in recent history has had the guts to take on evil and protect our country as he has.
Any talk of “how bad Bush has been…” is just pathetic whining from ungrateful people who don’t know how good they have it.
Please, do us all a favor, and move to another country, where you can hate America from afar.

How dare she get caught planting questions. That’s something Rove would never have let happen!

“No other President in recent history has had the guts to represent evil and endanger our country as he has.”

It’s estimated that every single family in America has paid 20 thousand dollars EACH to create an Islamic Fundamentalists Government in Iraq. “THAT” is making us safer???? Tell me you’re not smoking some of that opium crop from Afghanistan.

Everyone may do it, but it’s only Hillary who says she doesn’t. LOL

Donato: We’ve not had a single terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11, so yes, President Bush has been saving our hind-ends, whether you’re grateful for it or not.
