Ronald Reagan said of Alan Keyes, “I have never known a more stout-hearted defender of a strong America than Alan Keyes.”

Alan Keyes was Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations in Ronald Reagan’s administration.

He was the highest ranking person of African-American decent in the Reagan administration.

Considering what Alan Keyes did to his own daughter, I wonder if his minister is “Fred Phelps”? It wouldn’t suprise me. Alan Keyes is what is rotten with the Repubublican party. It needs to be cored. Good, patriotic Americans want it back from the lunitic right fringe.

Interesting point, Joel. That is one thing that alarms me about Rudy G. (among other things). Going from mayor to President… not so sure about that. Keyes spent 11 years with the US State Department. Are you saying he should have more experience serving in an elected office?

Pam,

It is awesome that Alan Keyes has the courage to speak up boldly. I like to listen and his voice needs to be heard. But to vote for him now is to throw away your vote (which you have a right to do). I suggest, for what that’s worth, that you vote for someone who shares your convictions AND who has actively put his political passions into practical public service and has an effective political record of experience.

I think we have several Republican candidates from which to choose with decent convictions and also with some real life experience making a difference politically with those convictions. We need someone as willing to work hard as they are willing to speak out boldly. Keyes only does one of those things well.

Your vote is not cheap. Don’t throw it away too easily.

Pam,

Alan Keyes has long been for reparations based on skin color to redress injustices well over 100 years ago. That is both unreasonable and unconstitutional. He’s a fine orator, but we need better thinkers than this.

Let Mr. Keyes work to win a lower office and then work his way up with experience. He wants too much all at once. No politician who thinks and feels that way can get much good done in the long run.

Alan Keyes should have been included in these debates.

If Alan Keyes belongs in the debates, then so does the homeless guy downtown who’s always ranting about something or other to passerby. He’s got as much credibility as, and more integrity than, Alan Keyes.

You all missed the point rather you agree with giving illegals benefits over Americans or not Huckabee lied he did not change his mind or switch his postion he flat lied to everyone and this was not the first time he has done this. He did when he got hit on taxes and now he is doing it on illegal immigration policy and no one will hold him to it. Also
“Any tuition rate that is granted to residents of Arkansas shall be
4 granted on the same terms to all persons, regardless of immigration status,
5 who have attended a secondary educational institution in Arkansas for at
6 least three (3) years and who have either graduated from an Arkansas high
7 school or received a general education diploma in the state.”
This means that if you are in Mexico and want your kid to go to college you can move to AR and get huge discounts on what you pay compared to someone who has been serving in Iraq and comes home and decides to go to AR but is from MO.

That is the way it was dressed to appear.
If you’ll notice the phrase “state supported scholarships”, that leaves enough gray area where some future legislation can use the letter of the law, and find some “just social cause” to provide free education to the “oppressed minority”.
Also the bill above was the finished version that was voted on. And it was watered down to attempt to address the issues I brought up.
The fact remains that Huckabee thinks that tax revenue is his money to dole out as he sees fit.
(Romney did an excellent job of calling him out on this last night.
