From the original post:

“Cafeteria religion:” “People liked to take the good parts of different faith religions and put them together into their own little package that they were comfortable with. … People are used to picking and choosing and it’s a feel-good kind of thing."

I also see this trend. My response is that the very best thing about real Christianity is that I did not make it up.

"Organized religion" will continue to be a bane to many youths who for the first time are away from their "home church" and thus free to float to other denominations, creeds etc.
Where does organized religion fail young collegiates? I recall going to a near campus church. All the things which embellish collegiate Christianity were absent there. Instead of developing the teaching, singing and/or leadership gifts of young students (who could perhaps then be counted upon to lead the singing or present a biblical lesson which they themselves had drafted) we got something far less engaging. A seemingly sincere fellow merely read a "canned" lesson which had no doubt lovingly been written by some fellow in Nashville. We however were regrettably not in that Nashville fellow's Sunday School class. So we looked bemusedly at one another while our "teacher" read a made-in-Nashville lesson and made little time for audience questions/discussion.

Obviously, religion meets a need for human beings. Odd, now much it fluctuates in belief and practice at different times and places.

As I said yesterday, evangelical Christianity is waning among young people. This is just more evidence.
