RDEAN,
You're quite the comedian lately. The guy wants "Thor's Hammer" and a sword in order to practice his religion?? Just the things every prisoner should have.

It's ironic that in Utah, a man in prison is being denied practicing his religion. His religion is over a thousand years old while the Mormon religions is so new, some call it a cult. Why are they not equally valid?

Hamachi2,
The Office was created in Britain first. I saw the season two disc (six episodes) at the library and checked it out, not knowing much about it. It was funny and tense/uncomfortable sometimes at the same time. Haven't seen anything else like it.
I still haven't seen the US version.

Thanks for all the cowboy hints. Actually, we got our son a really nice hat and cap gun from Vision Forum. And you're right, boys don't care as much what is on the cake. But I always ask what kind of cake they want--this year he said a chocolate cowboy cake!! 8*)
I live in the south; you would think Walmart, or Toys R Us, or SOMETHING would have had a small cowboy set to decorate a cake. Oh, well...

Blessings!

"who is one of the most spiritual atheists I know"

Oxymoron alert!

"there are positive signs as well - for instance, the success that former Vice President Al Gore has had in raising awareness about what he calls the climate crisis"

So. Are the global warming alarmists scientists or priests? There IS no consensus on the issue of global warming OR anthropogenic global warming. See the report I link above. It seems to me that Alan Boyle himself can't make proper distinction between science and religion, science and politics, science and coercion, and science and rhetoric.

"I don't understand why Gore doesn't run for president," Druyan said. "I really feel that he would be one candidate who probably the majority of the people in the country would embrace."

She's clearly delusional.

Courting religious believers and establishing the Baptist Church as the Federal church are two very different things. Druyan can shut up about that comparison. If she cares about the constitution she should vote for Ron Paul. NO federal funding for stem cell research of ANY KIND. It's unconstitutional.

Alas, in order to get the government back to the constitution would probably be like making an apple pie from scratch (sans creating the universe!).

This is a good article and spells out the problem of science vs the "arcane".

I'm my wife's mechanic. I do more than wiper blades. Can't get any points for that since I do it all the time anyway...

You're doing a nice job of shopping for yourself ;-) Moby is amazing. I only have Play and haven't listened in a while. Playing Everloving. Great music for this time of night.

Tonight we began reading our collection of Christmas books, and I wanted to pass along a recommendation for one we really enjoy as a family. The Christmas Crocodile by Bonny Beck. I had forgotten about it until it reappeared tonight. I love making voices for all the characters, and I'm sure you will too. Great illustrations.

I love The Office. I haven't seen the British version. I didn't know there was such a thing. My wife buys various shows in seasons for her ipod. She watches them while she exercises at the gym. It keeps her mind off how much she doesn't like exercising in gyms. Anyway, she has lots of seasons of shows on her itunes, and I went through the whole season of The Office. I'm not a tv watcher, but I enjoyed it a lot. Dwight is the bomb! What a well developed character!

Yes, I have a hot date. I love dates with my wife. Wish I had more of them! I do know what the movie is about. We both want to see it before it goes to video, and it's playing at a small theater nearby. I also want to see Golden Compass. Tough call.
