   I tried clicking onto that link, which brings you to the website of the Chicago Tribune “log-in” page. I don’t need to see that story THAT badly.

   So……it’s simple. Here’s my exit strategy. same as the US’s strategy to end WW2…….
   A) Pull out all our troops in Iraq, Douchebagistan, and all other cave like places in that region.

   B) Drop a nuke on Bagdad, or Fallujah, or whatever town Iraq considers important, taking our Muqtad-al-Sadr in the process.

   C) Get word to Bin-Laden and Pervez Musharraf that if Bin-Laden doesn’t give himself up by January 15th…we (The US military) will start dropping megaton nukes on all capitol cities in Syria, Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, starting with MECCA.
   If they want a war…..let’s finish it!

   Is the Bin Laden tape an indicator that they’re right?

   Of course it is. Bin Laden realizes AQI made a grave error: attacking any Shia and Sunni Muslims that didn’t help AQI with ferocity. I’m sure Bin Laden is frustrated at not being more “hands-on” with AQI. There’s not much he can do while being holed up in Waziristan.

   Sometimes I wonder if all his talk about Iraq is a bluff: to keep our attention away from Pakistan, where Bin Laden really wants to destabilize and control. Bin Laden and AQ need a host state from which to operate and plan. It wasn’t happening in Iraq; Pakistan is their best bet.

   I’m no fan of Islamic terrorists. Tell me again about how Islam is a religion of violence and Christianity, the religion of Jesus with two swords coming out of his mouth (Revelation) is a religion of peace, at least the branch here.

   Hard to say how serious Justus is in his suggestions, though I tend to believe most of what people at wmb say about themselves.

   Is this proposal serious or just wmb hyperbole?

   I think it’s just hyperbole – and don’t recommend it in any case.

   But it’s a provoking idea. If one threatened Islam in general with destruction of Mecca and major cities, would Muslims get their act together, and begin taking responsibility (disciplining) for their juvenile delinquents (radical jihadists)?

   If we believed the war was with Islam, our policy might well be like #1.

   Although the other side believes the war is the West vs. Islam, we act as if we believe otherwise.

   re: #5. I am not sure how not starting a nuclear war makes this a christian nation; i am not even sure a real chritian nation would have nukes in the first place.

   AQI has no real connection to Bin Ladin. In all likelihood, OBL receives his military updates the same way the American public receives them: CNN,FOX and al-Jeezera. As the MSN has more or less sided behind Petreous and the administration’s victory dance, OBL is probably worried but that’s no real indication that the situation for AQI is dire. OBL watches the news just like we do and he has a website like many other people; he just has a wider audience.

    You having a bad day? Random makes a good point, imo. Dropping megaton bombs on Baghdad as if we were at war with Iraq would be not only stupid, but also immoral. As to wmb as a modifier — well see blog postings on Islam as evil and the various posters who take that up and quaff it as if it were ambrosia of the gods. We are not at war with a religion. We are at war with extremists who don’t have control of any particular nation-state, but rather of areas within states. How hard those states are fighting the extremists within depends on the political situations in those states. Justus there would use a cannon to kill not on the gnat but everything around it, including the innocent. Not justifiable under any moral theory of war.

    I didn’t take Justus331 seriously, though I do think that his comments do reveal his general thinking on the matter. I’m not shocked – there are some Americans (and even some Christians) who favor using nukes on people. I’ve heard them myself. Some people can’t resist the temptation to play with Oppenheimer’s little toy. It’s up to the level-headed among us to make sure that never happens.
