In his annual message, the Archbishop of Canterbury said “God doesn’t do waste,” but we do: “Despite constant talk about recycling and thinking ‘green’, we’re still a society that produces fantastic quantities of waste.” In Pope Benedict’s New Year’s Eve sermon, he warned against “false exaltations,” saying, “We are seeing a deficit of hope and confidence in life which constitutes the ‘dark’ evil of modern Western society.”
Huckabee showed reporters an attack ad during a Tuesday press conference, only to renounce the ad and let the media disseminate it for free. He said he made the decision ten minutes before the press conference began: “I just realized that this is not how we run our campaign in this state. We’ve gotten here by being positive.”
Researchers have found that miscarriages and abortions affect subsequent pregnancies. Women who have had one abortion are almost three times more likely to have a low birthweight baby and 70% more likely to give birth prematurely. The risk increases with each abortion.
In New Hampshire, homosexual couples gathered at midnight to enter into civil unions. New Hampshire’s new civil union law was activated January 1. It gives homosexual couples the rights and privileges of marriage without calling the union a marriage.
The LA Times takes a look at the flashy, pop-inspired Bibles Zondervan is turning out. It’s hard to sell a book 91% of households already own, but “Zondervan plans to keep stoking demand by making sure God’s word looks hip, sounds relevant and is advertised all over.” Paul Caminiti, vice president, says, “If you put chocolate coating on an Oreo, it’s a different cookie, and you ought to be able to charge more. … The packaging has to scream that this is something really new: First time! Fudge-dipped! Chocolate-coated!”

The Iraq government is drafting a bill to let 20 thousand out of prison, excluding the gays and those that committed adultry. Yea, sounds like a country the Christians would be proud of, I mean if any Christians are left in Iraq. Wow, we sure made a good country didn’t we? One we can be proud of. We need to keep those dangerous gays and those that committed adultry off the street. What will they do next, kiss?
