Really sad. Olasky and Gerson claim to be Christians. Ditto, the other questioners no doubt. And not one question or answer has anything to do with what God, Christ, His Word says about the topics they are discussing. This tells us a lot about why Christians in this country are so powerless -- and under God's judgment. Is not our Lord the Lord over all, with all power in heaven and on earth? Is He not the King of kings, the Lord of lords? Then why was He not mentioned?

Actually, after having read this article again, I am in disagreement with Michael Gerson. He states: "Within the Republican Party, the people who are most open to foreign assistance are religious conservatives. The people who are least open to it are secular conservatives. They are deeply skeptical that government can ever really do good – that this money is ever well spent – and have very little interest in the issues."
Well....even though I am not a repub, I certainly am more conservative than most of those in Congress. However, I am not so much for foreign aid to anywhere, except maybe Israel. I believe our tax dollars do much better fixing the problems we have here at home. I'm not suggesting that throwing money at any problem is a viable solution......merely stating that it's "our" money, let's use it here where it can do the most good.

Anybody have other thoughts?

If President Bush is the consumate compassionate conservative, maybe it is true he is compassionate, but he is absolutely NO conservative.

Some of these "movements" might have a better chance of catching on if they weren't so insulting and and self righteous, implying that those who disagree with them have no compassion or are cowardly.

Great. First we had "Compassionate Conservatism", which was simply liberalism in Jesus' name. Now we've got "Heroic Conservatism", which is simply Compassionate Conservatism gone global.
