Meditation
On Saturday’s we consider a passage of Scripture…
“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.
If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you.
If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.

Thus has Satan blinded those who will not believe. There is an early U2 song (I threw a brick through a window) with the lyric: No one. No one is blinder than he who will not see!
It’s a matter of those who refuse to believe. They are spiritually and emotionally weak. Satan has even caused them to think he does not exist.
They consider God to be opposed to science. What a crock. That’s really no way to live…….

We are to be light and salt to that world. We are all spiritually blind before Christ gives us sight. Even after our eyes are opened we see so dimmly. How easy it is for our own feet to slip into sin! This scripture points to a reality that is important for Christ’s disciples to keep before them. We are told not to be surprised at persecution, but to expect it. Nevertheless, we are to pray for those who persecute us or do evil to us. That persecution comes in both very subtle and overt ways. It is not easy to love your enemies. It is God himself who will give us strength to do it. That is one reason prayer for ourselves and for each other is so important.
