Hi Michael

I didn’t comment on Cicero’s post yesterday, nor do I intend to. I had written my last post to Cicero at 11PM my time Wednesday night. After reading his last post on this thread I felt it best not to answer, since it had become a sophistic twist on a number issues. Bringing my husband into the discussion was not only in bad taste, but showed extreme immaturity.

I don’t give my email address out, and certainly not to anyone who behaves the way this individual has. I’m sure you understand, or at least I hope so.

Michael, I understand what you’re saying, and you are completely right to suggest that. However, I will not be talking to Victoria unless she demonstrates that her hostility is gone. Like you–you have been much easier to talk to. So yes, consider it done. I also think it’s disturbing how silent this thread has become, and I would hate to be the reason for that. Yes, we are essentially on the same team, and I am sorry that I allowed this conflict to become as prolonged and as raucous as it has.

Cicero and Victoria,

Although I am more inclined to agree with Victoria than with Cicero in your personal conflict, I would offer the suggestion that you exchange email addresses and continue your discussion in private. Perhaps, without the need to simultaneously make points in a publice forum, you will have more freedom in private to come to a good Christian reconcilliation and understanding.

After all, we are all on the same team right?

Victoria, I am done wasting my time talking to you. Not one time have you EVER even attempted to refute a statement of mine through any rational means. Instead, you see fit to insult my intelligence and call my reasoning ridiculous. And you have the audacity to suggest that you are right, when you never extend the least courtesy to your opponents and have no response to them but to degrade their logic. The mere suggestion, brought up so many times, that I do not know the meaning of the word hyperbole, is highly offensive. I knew exactly what I was doing, and I didn’t even have to admit that I was using it somewhat. Hyperbole is SUPPOSED TO BE GROUNDED IN THE TRUTH!

If it is not, then it is a lie, not a literary and rhetorical device.

When I mentioned your husband, I was not referring to your sex life, I was referring to your practice of trying to humiliate anyone you disagree with instead of making even the slightest attempt to resolve the disagreement. If you treat him the way you treat your neighbors, it is a wonder that you still call him your husband. Do you love your husband as yourself? Do you love your neighbors as yourself? Yeah right.

Are you trying to be stupid here? That’s exactly what I just said.

How dare you say that I don’t know what I’m talking about. If that is what you tell everyone who disagrees with you, there is no way I, if I were a pagan, would ever want to join your religion.

You said that you were part of a large and influential evangelical denomination on the meet the regulars page. I know from your speech that this denomination is more than a little conservative. As far as the point I was making then was concerned, there is very little room for difference in that category.

You also quote me as:

I did not fall through the ice. I was perfectly within my rights to speculate briefly about the implications of your abrasive and unchristian way or relating to other people. I am incredulous that you are lecturing me about manners. I think any objective observer would agree that I have been far more courteous on this thread than you have, by ANY standard, so to impugn me and my educators is at best extremely narrow-minded.
