Jesse Ventura wrestles with running for prez … or heading south
As if the 2008 race for the White House couldn’t get any more interesting, the Examiner.com’s Yeas & Nays blog reports that Jesse Ventura may enter the race as a third-party candidate, with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as his running mate. In his new book, Don’t Start the Revolution Without Me! (due out on April 1 … hmmm), the former pro wrestler and governor of Minnesota writes, “As I begin to write this book, I’m facing probably the most monumental decision of my 56 years on this planet. Will I run for president of the United States, as an independent, in 2008? Or will I stay as far away from the fray as possible, in a place with no electricity, on a remote beach in Mexico?”

Mexico! Oh thank goodness! I thought he was coming down here.

Apathy? I just don’t get it. Don’t these people read the news before writing their books? This is the least apathetic US America has been about a presidential election in decades.
And I’m suprised that Robert Kennedy Jr. would be listed as a potential running mate for Ventura, not that he wouldn’t make a great running mate for someone.

Don’t waste your effort. Go to Mexico. Or not.
Who cares?

Ventura governed Minnesota for several years. The liberal North Star voters were so exasperated after Ventura, they actually voted in a Republcian adult as his successor–who is now a 2-termer.

Thanks for reminding me who Jesse Ventura is. It didn’t register at first.

Ditto #3
It seems like in our current two-party system running for President as a 3rd party candidate is pretty much a waste of money and time. Go to Mexico.

Ventura’s “sell by” date passed long ago. Minnesota would not have reelected him.

Can we all donate money to pay for his flight to Mexico? Anyone?
If we all throw in a few bucks…

Minnesota voted for a professional wrestler as a Governor, a Muslim as a Congressman, and now they might even be voting for a comedian (Al Franken) as a Senator. Not to insult our nice northern neighbors (I have friends in MN!), but what gives?!?

While I have no explanation as to how Jesse Ventura ever got elected, I myself have an excuse in that I was not of legal voting age at that time. If Jesse does run for president, you can be certain that Minnesota will not make the same mistake twice. (Let’s hope the rest of the nation follows suit.)

If I remember correctly, Jesse won as an independent because neither of the main party candidates was popular. That won’t happen this year in the presidential race, as the media loves Obama and McCain is their favorite “Repubmocrat”.

When Jesse won the governorship of MN, was he running against two political heavyweights: Hubert Humphrey’s son and the former mayor of either Minneapolis or St. Paul? The memory doesn’t work like it used to; just wondering.

TJ, Of the 3 candidates only Ventura was adamantly committed to NOT raising taxes! He was elected on the Reform Party before Perot decompensated before our very eyes.
