Good morning!
Today’s quote is from a Protestant reformer and scholar: “There is no work better than another to please God; to pour water, to wash dishes, to be a cobbler, or an apostle, all is one; to wash dishes and to preach is all one to please God.”

Martin Luther? Sounds like him

An interesting quote, albeit of suspect accuracy.
What about the line of work whose services the newest NY ex-guv engaged?
And if some spiritual gifts are superior to others, why not mere work?

TJ (re Issues, etc.) The LCMS site Cyberbrethren has a lengthy post on this topic, although it basically doesn’t say anything. This section may interest you, however:
“I do realize this leaves many questions completely unanswered. For instance, why? What are the “programmatic and business reasons” for the decision? No one, least of all Rev. Todd Wilken or Jeff Schwarz, has been given any reason. Please trust that I am diligently seeking more complete answers through personal contacts. I hope that at some time a further explanation can be offered by those responsible. There may be good, understandable reasons for this, but at the very least, I do believe those who appreciated Issues Etc ought be given a credible explanation why this was done.
In the meantime, I would humbly suggest that you let your thoughts be known by contacting the Board for Communication Services through David Strand (David.Strand@lcms.org), or by contacting the President’s Office or the numbers given above. They need to hear your thoughts on the matter.”

So how about that split screen on the news this morning where Hillary is talking about being under fire in Bosnia and the news media went back in their archives and found the footage of the trip. Who you gonna believe? Hillary or your lying eyes?

Kim, I laughed reading your post, you Judas!
(They had Carville on right after showing the above, and he’s standing by his comment about Richardson.)

Brother Lawrence, I believe.

I had to take the Punkadoodle to school. What did Carville say?
Report comment to moderator
Carville said that Bill Richardson, long considered a Clinton loyalist, was being a “Judas” by endorsing Obama.

In regards to Carville, he’s always had an acid tongue, so his latest tongue lashing is nothing new. I should note that most Louisiana people are far nicer than he is. I have always been fascinated as to what his home life is like with Mary. That has got to be one interesting marriage!
In regards to Bob Barr, he’s had a few changes (for the better) since he left congress. He has a regular column in the Atlanta Journal and I always read it. He’s become a very strong defender of civil liberties. He seems more libertarian than Republican now, so I see where he would line up with Ron Paul.

Well of course the spin is on. Hillary’s troops are trying to do the damage control thing… She’s gotten too comfortable with her re-written history.

When Barr enthusiastically introduced Paul to the crowd at CPAC, I thought to myself, “Now there’d be a ticket!”
Hopefully, the revolution has only just begun.

For some reason Carville and Matalin do get along and have stayed married. Perhaps because they know the country will go on no matter which side wins, and they keep it all in perspective. Politics is but one aspect of life, and it’s really not as important as some people think it is.

I agree with NJL. Politics are not everything. Heck, maybe they actually love each other – as in the archaic ‘Til Death do us part’.
But I still think that Matalin must have gotten awful mad enough at him at some time – she apparently naired his head while he was asleep.

He used to have a little hair, didn’t he? When I last saw them together, I got the feeling that Matalin just rolls her eyes at Carville and that Carville thinks hey she’s wrong, but I love her. Old age is going to be interesting for them!
Now, I don’t want to start anything, but I checked the news sites before I came here, and at Fox there was an article by John Lott Jr. — I don’t know who that is — writing a review about Larry Elder’s new book. Part of that article said:
“Politicians constantly make righting the wrongs of discrimination the central core of their message to black voters. Elder says that Democrats need black people to be angry and constantly feel aggrieved to keep 90 percent of them voting for Democrats.
Republicans are actually more in-sync with black views on issues from vouchers for schooling, crime, abortion, illegal immigration, but many blacks would never vote for Republicans because of their perception of rampant racism by Republicans.”
He also commented about Obama.
As I said, I don’t know who this fellow is, nor have I read Elder’s book, but maybe our bloggers could find out more about this and set up a thread.

Another good story over on Breakpoint today, about at least one benefit of Hurricane K:

For those of you who didn’t stay up till the wee hours last night to read the last few posts of yesterday’s Whirled Views, I’m back home after the birth of a new nephew (I included him in the numbers of nieces and nephews in my bio, though I didn’t know he was a boy until he was born). This makes biological children in the second generation an even 75% male. I went to help the family for four days and returned yesterday afternoon.
The two-year-old is feeling better, and apparently hasn’t thrown up any more.

Cheryl D,
Did you get a grade back on the essay yet?

Ajisuun,
How was your Resurrection celebration? Are you now a mega church and no longer have time for us?

Mumsee,
After I answered your query last night, I wondered which one you were asking about.
No, I left town the next day, and unless she had put a grade slip in my mailbox, she has had no opportunity to reply. We haven’t seen each other, and she lives around the corner from me so we don’t tend to see each other coming and going. We just see each other when one of us walks by the other’s house (usually me walking by hers).

What a day! Our school had a bomb threat (we think a copycat of a nearby school). Left the building at 11:30 and they just let us back in (4:15 local time). It will be hard to get the students’ attention tomorrow!

Okay, my posts are not going through. What gives? A couple of hours ago, I posted on this thread (should have been #21) but it is not here. HELP!
