Meditation 3.29
Today’s scriptural meditation:
So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison. Truly, I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.

Many a child and I have sat out in the car extra long before going into church as we have discussed this very section. Or got up and left in the middle of the service to get something resolved. It sure opens up the communication when you get rid of the blockages.

First be reconciled to my brother?
You mean I can’t spout off to others about the issue?!
Oh well.
And you mean if he has a problem with me, it isn’t up to me to leave it up to him to take the initiative?
Oh well.

I believe we have two different teachings here.
v. 23&24 Says that we can’t worship God when we have unresolved differences with each other. It doesn’t say here, but if you have something against your brother, forgive. Jesus says, If your brother has something against you, clear it up. My father left the church for two decades because someone hurt his feelings. He wouldn’t admit it, but that’s what it was. You can’t let someone stand between you and God. Also, it is wrong for me to be a stumbling block for someone.
V. 25 & 26 Says that we should avoid conflict if possible. If trouble comes, let it come from the other side. “Blessed are the peacemakers.”
