So, Kristin, where is Lynn these days? Has anybody said?
It’s a lovely Saturday morning–blue sky with puffy white clouds, the trees all budding out. But I had to turn my heat back up for the first time in several days.
And now I have to collect the last few receipts and do my taxes.

Has everyone heard Mr. Obama’s latest misspeak? How the poor people of Pennsylvania are bitter and angry so they turn to God, guns and want to blame all their problems on immigrants? He has now claimed his remarks were “inartful.” GWB may get tongue-tied, but he doesn’t have to backtrack as much as this guy does.

Coyote Blue: – from another thread.
Where you been woman! ’splain yourself!
You haven’t been around lately and we missed you. (Maybe I haven’t been reading the right threads.)

The baby chicks are growing feathers like baby chicks. Soon, on a sunny day, we will take them outside and introduce them to the dogs. Hope we have some left.

Mumsee, have you warned those poor chicks about the terror to come? Somehow, I don’t think they’re going to appreciate it.
Speaking of animals, my goat just had twins. I own one of them and the woman who takes care of the goats own the other one.

I see you wait for the last minute too. I finally did my taxes last weekend only because we had visitors heading back to the U.S. who could carry it back and mail it there. Much safer.

Ajisuun,
What makes you think I shouldn’t be warning the poor pups about the terror to come? They must all learn to get along. The last dog that did not want to get along with the chicks, finally had to go.
I love goats and am hoping to incorporate them back into the little farmlette. Much easier to milk a goat than a cow and the babies are soooo cute. Tasty too, I might add.
It is indeed a beautiful day in the neighborhood, I just got back from mowing the lawn. I love spring! Now I am off to watch the kids perform in Jack and the Beanstalk.

Ajisuun,
I don’t usually wait for the last minute. When I worked “in the office” I did them in January–the very moment I had all the forms. But now it’s a lot of work, this year I misplaced some of the receipts and have to look for them, and I also will probably have to borrow (but have waited for the last minute hoping I wouldn’t). But I’m not by nature a procrastinator, and if I’d had the money and the receipts in place in February, I’d have filed in February.

(Well, let’s amend that. I’m by nature a procrastinator on at least one thing–cleaning house. But as a rule I don’t procrastinate on things with a deadline; I get them done early and remove some of the pressure.)

My 18-going-on-19-yr.-old daughter did her taxes today. Due to the fact that she was counted as our dependent for most of 2007, & her nanny job did not withhold taxes, she owes $900! And she doesn’t have the money. Ouch!

Traffic is a little slow on WV. Maybe others are doing their taxes too.
Cheryl D.- When I used to get refunds I did them earlier, but now… I am, however, a procrastinator by nature. I need the pressure of the deadline to get motivated. (Unlike you, I don’t feel the pressure until the deadline in imminent.)
Mumsee, I think you need to come and teach some people here how to milk a goat. Can you believe they don’t use goat’s milk here? We have talked until we’re blue in the face about goat’s milk being better for babies than cow’s milk or powdered milk. (If a baby can’t nurse for some reason.)

I did hear him say that people are tired of hearing political promises that don’t get kept, by way of explaining why he’s not gotten a lot of traction among the working class. He said they hold to things they know they can count on and become distrustful of outsiders because they’ve been burned so many times.
Is that what you’re referring to?

GWB may get tongue-tied, but he doesn’t have to backtrack as much as this guy does.
That’s because GWB lacks the integrity and humility necessary to ever admit being wrong about something.

Quote of the day:
“Forgiveness is instantaneous, but restoration is a process.”
Ron Barker, Interim pastor of FBC Hendersonville. (I don’t know if it originated with him, but it’s a great truth.)
Cameron, TJ; from another thread. Sometimes I’m glad my wife doesn’t do computers.
But she (the clerk) was supercute.

SteveG, it is not a question of integrity or humility on GWB’s part. He didn’t say things that insulted people and then tried to say he didn’t say what he really said. And you know it.

Ouch, Karen. That hurts to owe money you don’t have. My daughter and her husband ended up doing that the last 2 yrs. They are going to double check in August this year to make sure they are more on track. I understand that you can make payments if you need to, but it does cost you, of course. We had to pay a bit this year, because of changes in our income and not knowing what exactly we would be paying. Nothing that bad, though.
