Then there is saying something that sounds nice, and which you do really believe and do intend to strive for, but understand that the target is beyond the reach of mere mortals in every instance and will not be fully achieved [good]. The former is rank hypocrisy. The later is setting laudably high standards and having the grace to deal with human's inability to meet them if they are suitably high. The is saying something that sounds nice, but which you don’t really believe and have no intention of trying to live up to [bad].

Then there is saying something that sounds nice, and which you do really believe and do intend to strive for, but understand that the target is beyond the reach of mere mortals in every instance and will not be fully achieved [good].
