Obama’s worship options
Over at The Washington Post’s On Faith blog, Jacques Berlinerblau, program director and associate professor of Jewish Civilization at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, cleverly lists what he considers are Barack Obama’s opportunistic options as the senator seeks out a new place for him and his family to worship: Join a white blue-collar congregation, attend a non-radical African-American church, try a different religious tradition each week, convert to Judaism, or just denounce religion altogether and go secular. Be sure to read his rationale for each of these faith “strategies.”

Three additional options for Obama:
1. Riverside Church in NY City. It would be a good fit for him.
2. A neighborhood church within walking distance of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Imagine the sight of the President and his family walking to church on Sunday.
3. An internet church. It would be totally cool and would fit with his base (young people).
Personally, it doesn’t matter to me whether or not he goes to church or joins a church. It’s a personal matter that has no bearing on his fitness for office.

But never forget that it is Juan McSame who has cynically employed “faith strategies.”
When he was running against Dubya in 2000, he called certain evangelical “spokesmen” “agents of intolerance.”
When he needed to shore up the crumbling evangelcial base for his ‘08 run, he sucked up to Falwell, Robertson, Hagee, Parsley, etc.
And when a sound bite from a Hagee sermon was found that might have been impolitic, he dropped Hagee like a hot rock.
And WMB has the temerity to continue pounding on Obama for exercising “faith strategies”? Puh-leeze!
I frankly don’t give a flying fig where either of these guys worships or who their pastors and/or religious endorsers are. I want to know what their policies and positions are.
And frankly, in that regard, I’m not impressed with either of them.

Is there no longer a Moody Bible Institute up yonder in Chi-Town? I’d have Barak and family move their letter to it, PDQ.

Anlir’s suggestion here A neighborhood church within walking distance of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Imagine the sight of the President and his family walking to church on Sunday makes a good deal of political sense.
Wow, Anlir! I agree with you.

But if he doesn’t want to walk to church of course, he’s welcome to fly out to Kansas and attend mine … right after he visits Xion’s church.

How man threads can we devote to Obama and his church affiliations?
As much as I like the idea of Obama having political troubles, I’m getting a little bored seeing each chapter in his church saga getting the headlines. Are the conservatives going to be talking about this all the way to November?

Yes.

I don’t think Obama would want to attend my small church. He wouldn’t have a large pool of votes to sway, no one would vote for him anyway since he is a Marxist / Socialist, pro abortion anti religion, anti white racist Democrat, we wouldn’t raise money for him, we aren’t politically connected in any way and we don’t film our sermons for sale or Internet distribution.
But, he would be welcome anyway and could field the 100 or so question he would get after services from the 25 or so that show up for Sunday worship.
With his income, we would expect a $10k – $20k donation to the church in the collection plate each week he attended. We could use the money, guarantee it wouldn’t be used for racist causes, plus he needs to give way, way more back for God’s use as any Christian with his vast monetary resources should want to generously give as a matter of course

Graceland,
Several days ago, you made a harsh allegation in a previous thread about our President being guilty of a great deal of deception. I asked you to justify that harsh smear on him. I still am waiting.

To Graceland
Have Joel Mark google Bush and his lies.
Joel would find out Bush made 232 false statements about Iraq and WMDs’.
Joel would also find out Bush made 28 false statements and Iraq’s link to Al-Qaeda.
But you can handle your response anyway you like.

Joel Mark,
I don’t recall the harsh allegation you are referring to. If you can point me to which thread you are talking about, I will reply to you on that thread.
Victoria,
You are right, I could just ignore this tired topic. I’m just trying to challenge conservatives to aim a little higher than harping on this guy’s church attendance. I know, I know, his previous church was a bad one, but can’t we just leave it at that? Why hypothesize where he will go next?

Graceland,
It’s his CORE beliefs which have come to LIGHT.
He knew what was being preached/bellowed from the pulpit, but he isn’t able or willing to admit it, that’s where we are RIGHT NOW, and it won’t change. The subject won’t go away, nor will it be stifled.
Thousands of people will continue to CHALLENGE this man regarding his beliefs, and I don’t mean religious ONLY.

Graceland,
You must have questioned W’s perfection.

I heard on FOX News that Obama is a muslim.

Sawgunner,
Moody Bible Institute is a college, not a church. I assume you’re thinking of Moody Church? The security issues would be a nightmare. The church is just too accessible to public areas(several streets, Lincoln Park) with too many entrances, and parking near the church is well-nigh impossible already. They’d basically have to shut down the whole area every Sunday. And Moody is more interested in the Gospel than in celebrities, so I don’t think they’d be willing to inconvenience their members and neighbors like that.
I know quite a few mixed-race churches in Chicago, but I wouldn’t wish Obama on any good church. Well, the church on the South side where Jackson’s named successor of Rainbow/PUSH preaches…they are very heavily into politics and seem to care more about the Democratic party than about the Gospel. They do seem to care about the poor, and they aren’t as vitriolic as the church he just left. They’d consider it a feather in their cap to get him. That would probably be a win-win for the church and for him, though not exactly for the Gospel.

Anlir: Obama made his church a political (not a personal) issue when he claimed the so-called “Rev.” Wright as a member of his closest pool of mentors and advisors from the very beginning of his campaign.
And BTW, Obama is not fit for office, even if we DON’T consider his church/pastoral affiliations.

What are Barack Hussein Obama’s spiritual options?
Well, there are two good options for him. Either would fit.
1. He could sign on as Osmana Bin Laden’s main disciple. He already is fully qualified in terms of having utter hatred and contempt for America and Americans, and Bin Laden has already enthusiastically endorsed him for President of the Great Satan, i.e. the United States.
2. He could join the ancient Canaanite religion of the worship of Moloch, in which screaming children were thrown into blazing furnaces. Obama already holds the same beliefs and fetishes in regards to butchering children – and has even refined the practice, in so much as now he wants to make you pay for it as well through exortion and theft of the money you earn by the sweat of your brow.
So, I think Obama can easily move on to one of these two spiritual havens – and without any great upheaval in whatever dying remnants of integrity still exist in the arid wasteland of his soul (such as it is).

Drill,
No doubt he will be accused of doing both at some point. Conservative Christians are real good at making up the most outlandish of stories.
He’s the anti-Christ I tell ya!
Report comment to moderator
Actually, Anlir, according to Scripture the Anti-Christ will be someone loved by everyone the world over (at least in the beginning).
Barack Hussein Obama ain’t that guy, and never was.
Report comment to moderator
Um, Anlir, actually he already DOES. He is the most rabid pro-death Senator in D.C., having personally secured the failure of a bill (supported by most of his pro-death Democrat colleagues) which would have prohibited the procedure that you and yours like so much, i.e. the delivery of a full term healthy baby followed by jabbing a sharp instrument into her brain, then followed by the cutting up of the still-quivering corpse and finally dropping the pieces into a waste bin.
That is what Obama is ALL about (and you, should you support him). A fine generation, this one is.
On the second thing, Obama is endorsed by all the major Middle Eastern terrorist groups. That is a fact. I suppose, though, that your brain is sufficiently deadened (not to mention the most rudimentary sense of right and wrong) by the ceaseless nattering and simpering of your television, such that you would undoutably find it most puzzling why that could even possibly be a matter of concern.
Such goes the Republic in the year 2008.

Obama just doesn’t get it… He needs to explain theses beliefs and stop insulting
Christians by claiming to be one..This is not Christian !!
The Obamas have practiced Black
Theology from the writing of Marxist, James H. Cone…? for 20 years !!!
this is what his church taught his daughters on Sundays…
“Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the
goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people,
then he is a murderer and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is
to kill gods who do not belong to the black community. Black theology will
accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white
enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in black power which is the
power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at
their disposal. Unless God is participating in his holy activity, we must reject
his love.”

…and Obama himself in his own words before Black Theology … before TUCC….
Malcolm X’s autobiography seemed to offer something different,” Obama wrote.
“His repeated acts of self-creation spoke to me; the blunt poetry of his
words,
his unadorned insistence on respect, promised a new and uncompromising order,
martial in its discipline, forged through sheer force of will.”
While working as a community organizer for a group of churches in Chicago,
Obama
was repeatedly asked to join Christian congregations, but begged off.
How can this man represent all Americans ???
