A quick recapitulation of our brief engagement will show all present that I haven’t demanded any answers from you. Rather,

1) you accused me of “revising” the record on whether or not Congress declared war; and

2) when I called on you to back your claim, the very best you could muster was to call me a girl and back off.

I don’t “demand” things from li’l pups I suspect won’t deliver.

But if you can’t run with the big dogs, why don’t you just stay up on the porch?

Explain for the class just how Congress rejecting making a declaration of war constitutes their having made a declaration of war.

Revise this (all emphases mine):

On October 3, 2002, Rep. Ron Paul made a motion to declare war on Iraq during discussion on H.J. Res. 114. Then Chairman Henry Hyde (now deceased) rejected Rep. Paul’s motion. The transcript of that rejection is recorded as follows:

There are things in the Constitution that have been overtaken by events, by time. Declaration of war is one of them. There are things no longer relevant to a modern society. Why declare war if you don’t have to? We are saying to the President, use your judgment. So, to demand that we declare war is to strengthen something to death. You have got a hammerlock on this situation, and it is not called for. Inappropriate, anachronistic, it isn’t done anymore.

If a Declaration of War is the same thing as a “Use of Force Resolution,” then why would Rep. Hyde make this comment? Why wouldn’t Hyde simply tell Rep. Paul, “Ron, get over it; it’s the same thing.” The simple answer is that War has not been declared …

And even words like “revisionism,” in which you and the rest of the apologistas here are engaging — with a vengeance.
