2 A Rant! is something that happened during the past week that you’re ticked about and is signified by the word “Rant!” and/or an appropriately grumpy emoticon.
3. You may Rant! about something a person said, did or wrote, but you may not Rant! about generally disliking a person.

Rant!: Barack Obama breaking his promise regarding public financing.
Report comment to moderator
Well, K, perhaps that is what he means by change!
Rave: Pres Bush finally showing some backbone when it comes to energy policy!
Rave: The flood is receding here!

RAVE: For the first time in two weeks, I took some Simply Sleep. Slept all night and did not wake up with dark circles under my eyes. I feel surprisingly good. I am meeting my stepmother in a little while to do some things at daddy’s house.

Rave: I got to meet Candice Olson last week! For those of you who don’t watch her on Divine Design on HGTV, she is a very popular, fun to watch Canadian interior designer. I was able to attend a seminar to see her speak, and chat with her afterward. And get my mom her autograph!
She is every bit as nice as she appears on television. I was also happy to note that she has the same client and project issues that I have. Sometimes, I wonder if it’s just me!
Rant: Summer is flying by too quickly!

Rave!: Scientist have discovered that a large, possibly worldwide flood occured about 8000 years ago!
Rant!: They’re blaming it on a collapsed iceberg that raised sea level. *bang head against wall*
Report comment to moderator
OP Teen…
Sources on that discovery?

I’m playing with my father’s day present here at work. My co-workers are jealous of my USB missile launcher.
Still enjoying my new (to me) Ford Ranger.
The gas mileage kinda sucks at 16 mpg, so I don’t drive it very much.

I don’t understand that “collapsed iceberg” bit. It would take one humongous glacier to raise the sea level just a foot. And an iceberg has already displaced all the water it can displace. An iceberg can’t raise the sea level an inch.

Rave! I celebrated my young cousin’s birthday yesterday and got to spend good time with family.
Rant! Because of said celebration, I had to miss out on a photo-fest from friends’ recent trip to Europe.

Rant: My perfect swim suit has a rip in it.
Rave: Hubby is taking the kid for a day next week so I can go shopping for a new one.
Rant: It really was perfect and I doubt I can find another like it.

TL, I used to watch HGTV a lot and I remember her. Cool.

TL @ #4–and summer doesn’t even officially begin until tonight!
Opinionated Teen @ #6–was it a collapsed iceberg or due to true polar wander?
Rant: none, it’s summer baby!
Rave: the solstice full moon had the waves pumping 6 to 8 feet yesterday.

? I don’t know her well enough yet to know how well that will work out

Rant–having a woe-is-me day. I’m not a crier, but I went back in my boys’ room, layed on their bed, and cried out to God for 30 minutes. Health problems returning (asking why He won’t take them away), children exibiting every behavior we’ve tried to train them away from, not receiving income that we were *guaranteed* would be here by Wednesday (and husband is 8 hours away…), no gas and running low on groceris. God, I know you don’t promise I won’t face any of this, but You promise You’ll be there. I just want to feel it, just one peaceful day.
Rave–God is good, I know that full well. I don’t have that feeling I asked for from Him, but I know He’s there.
Blessings!

Harris, I’m waiting for news that way, too, from the government.
MomofFour, hang in there. I have similar concerns, maybe not as immediate, but God and I have been having some heavy talks lately.

Rant: It’s been a long battle with migraines, and I’ve had two this past week. I can’t figure out what’s causing them, and I’m running out of ideas.
Rave: Somehow God has kept me pretty perky through the suffering. I don’t know what I would do without His mercy and grace, and the Christian fellowship surrounding me with encouragement.

Lisav, are you under stress? I used to get migraines, and the only thing that cured them was getting “old” if you get my drift. Try a dark room, sit and breathe in deeply, clear your head and concentrate on that, stay out of bright light. I used to wear sunglasses at work. You have my prayers.

Rant!: Can’t find the source for the flood story. Sorry, Make It Man. I heard it on the radio this morning. I’ll see if I can find it.
Rave!: Dinner at a friend’s house tonight!

NJLAWYER: I’ve been searching for a stress link to my migraines but haven’t found anything yet. One thing I have concluded: migraines cause stress more than stress causes migraines!
Report comment to moderator
LisaV, you have my sincere sympathies. Migraines are caused by so many things, some are due to allergies (chocolate, for instance). Mine weren’t. Mine were hormonal, stress, lack of sleep, and they didn’t go away until mid-life. But since then, they are GONE! Keep gel packs in your freezer.

Rave: Cameron and I are finally home after enjoying a vacation week. Our denomination had its national meeting last week, and I took off the week following.
Rave: I had the opportunity to preach from the pulpit of a former church last Lord’s Day.
Rant: I read Henri Nouwen’s Life of the Beloved (for an upcoming class; not much of a task, though it took a little longer than Wounded Healer). Simply one of the worst “Christian” books I’ve ever read. Warmed over Gnostic rubbish. Gag.

Momoffour – Hang in there. I’ll be praying for ya.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

LisaV, have you tried a magnesium supplement? I had a couple of migraines this week, too, and 750 mg of magnesium took the edge off both times. It doesn’t make the headache go away completely but does reduce the pain enough so I can function.
Momoffour, I’m praying for you.

mmacmurray: Been there, done that. I’m on to trying feverfew and riboflavin now. Crossing my fingers!
Report comment to moderator
LisaV, hope the feverfew and riboflavin work for you! Are you staying well-hydrated, too?
