Some Christians I know say they won't pay taxes because some of America's policies are evil. Some Muslims say they hate America because of its evil policies.

But the biblical position is not like either of those two. Christians should pray for their leaders regardless. When Paul wrote this, the evil Roman Empire that crucified God himself ruled the world.

I love that God is happy when governments keep the peace. God is happy with our police and military. We should pray for them.

The command of God through Paul to Timothy and to us in the light of all the problems in the Church and all the problems in the world and all the problems in society is to first of all make prayer a way of life. Whatever else we do, the first thing we should do is pray. We go about the work of the Kingdom, often not recognizing (in practice) that prayer is the foundational work of the Kingdom. And the hardest work of all.

And the hardest work of all.

“...for kings and all who are in high positions...”

Even if Sen. Obama wins, we must pray for him. For that matter, we should continue to pray for Pres. Bush until January, and beyond.
