First!?!?!?!?
Let’s see, can’t be Dobson, he is a psychologist, not psychiatrist (I think I know the difference).
Is it Sigmund Frued (not sure of the spelling)?

Skimmed a story http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/nation/wire/sns-ap-out-of-control,0,3010591.story on how everything is going out of control. A couple thoughts: Why do they think it was ever in control? And it seems to reflect the hubris of those who “know” that they have everything under control. I was one of those before everything fell apart. But God is a good God, and is willing to forgive and provide another chance.
They end with this line: “And maybe this is what the 21st century will be about — a great unraveling of some things long taken for granted.” Isn’t that part of repentance? Could this be a call for people to focus on what truly matters?

“Why do they think it was ever in control?”
Great question! It is only when you realize that you have no control but that God does and you place your trust in Him that you can “relax.”

…hosting 10 kids age 7 and under for Boy v.1.0’s birthday party (what was I thinking?!). It was fun. Noisy, but fun.
For anyone who cares to know, I did a round cake with chocolate graham crackers across the middle for a track, little race cars as “fans”, and a “sandy” area (brown sugar) for the pit, with a couple of little race cars in it. The kids liked it.

The other day we had our Million Dollar Thread. What would you do if you had a million dollars? Well that isn’t realistic, but this is. What would you do if $200 fell out of the sky in your lap? Here is the deal. I work for a Honda dealership. In May Honda Ridgelines were the featured vehicle and you got to go on line and “play a game” for extra money. I will be receiving a $200 gift card in the form of a Visa. Do I use the money to buy gas freeing up my gas budget money to do something else? Do I buy a gas grill? Do I treat myself to something special I otherwise could not afford? Do I buy groceries? Do I save it to buy back to school stuff for Chloe? What would you do? Have fun….

That Lou Dobbs is one ’spicy dicey tomato’ – maybe that was a dem senior moment!
Lou Dobbs: Bush Should Be Impeached for Salmonella Outbreak
CNN host says leadership in ’sorry condition’ and inability to ‘protect the American consumer’ is ’sufficient reason to impeach a president.’

CNN’s Lou Dobbs has been on a tear about the recent tainted-tomato salmonella outbreak, but this time he’s taken it a step further and is calling for the ultimate political punishment.
The “Lou Dobbs Tonight” host placed the blame for the recent salmonella outbreak squarely on President George W. Bush, calling for his impeachment on the June 19 broadcast. Contaminated tomatoes from an unknown source or sources have sickened 383 people since April, according to the Associated Press.

Where was I today?
I was out working in the yard all afternoon. I’d intended to do a little turning, but when I was all done mowing, weed eating, leaf blowing, trimming trees, hauling brush and vines off, fixing the wheel barrow and emptying the gutters… well I was a little tired, so I came in a cleaned up instead.
Now I’m wishing I had a good movie or a book.

Kim,
My wife would be down at Steinmart…. But she would wait for the deals. I’ve never seen her buy anything that hadn’t been marked down four or five times. That $200 would go a looooong way…
Report comment to moderator
Kim – As mentioned above, put it towards paying off debt. If you don’t have any debt, put it in savings. You never know what need will pop up for which that $200 will be waiting.
I know that’s not as much fun as buying something special, but it’s prudent.

Kim – How’s your kitty doing?

Kit Kat Callie the High Maintenance Queen of the House is doing better. She did wake me early for her wet food. During the time my dad was ill she was home alone alot. When I would come home she would meow straight through for 10 or 15 minutes almost as though she were not even taking a breath. It is one thing to have a yippy little lap dog. You expect a certain amount of noise, but a yippy lap cat no one ever expects to have. She is a comfort, because she sleeps on top of me and the weight makes be think someone is there holding me.

Victoria,
Many people live happy, productive lives ignoring Lou Dobbs:)

I only recently found out that Lou Dobbs lives in NJ. He has said he won’t run for governor here, and after reading the above, I’m happy for that. Anyone who can blame Bush for bad tomatoes should not seek an elected position.
I’m happy that the car cake went over well, but I am anxious to learn what the tooth fairy brought to KBells’ little guy.

Kim – I think I mentioned this before, but I don’t know if you saw it-
My cat, Peanut (our queen of the house), wakes me up in the middle of the night to be fed. Ignoring her just doesn’t work.
So, I prepare her “midnight snack” during the day & keep it in the fridge, covered with foil. I just have to stumble to the kitchen, take it out & put it down for her. Since I have to go to the bathroom sometime during the night anyway, it’s not a problem, then I can get back to sleep.
I’m glad Callie’s a comfort to you. They can be such a pain in the neck one minute, then so sweet the next.
Funny thing about Peanut – she follows me into the bathroom. Even if I have no idea where she is, she’ll show up in the bathroom with me (unless she’s sleeping).

21. The tooth fairy left eight quarters, but I think I will buy the tooth back from her as a keepsake. I hope she doesn’t try to make a profit.

Falling exam passes blamed on Wikipedia ‘littered with inaccuracies’
Published Date: 21 June 2008
By MARTYN McLAUGHLIN
WIKIPEDIA and other online research sources were yesterday blamed for Scotland’s falling exam pass rates.
The Scottish Parent Teacher Council (SPTC) said pupils are turning to websites and internet resources that contain inaccurate or deliberately misleading information before passing it off as their own work.
The group singled out online encyclopedia Wikipedia, which allows entries to be logged or updated by anyone and is not verified by researchers, as the main source of information.

Oh how true. Sometimes I wake up and try to lie very still so that Callie doesn’t know I am awake but she does!!!!

KBells, does that mean there is a trip to the bank or a trip out for ice cream?
I’ve only been able to fake out a cat rarely. My current cat usually leaves me alone when I’m asleep. He’ll give me a chance to wake up slowly except when he is really hungry. He’ll assist the waking up process by running over me. Nothing wakes a person up faster than to have a cat spring off one’s stomach. That’s the worst he does, however. He’s really a very good boy.

Saturday I woke in a Rest Stop, the second of the night (about 130 miles north of Sacramento), at 4:39 AM I drove the rest of the way home (Downey, CA) with a detour to meet my wife at my daughter’s house (Rialto. CA). After dinner and a visit I drove home. I guess it was about 600 miles @ 55 MPH pulling a small trailer. I got about 28+ miles a gallon.
Have you ever driven I-5? LA to Redding, then west on CA 299 to 101 and then north to Crescent City, CA
When I left Crescent City Friday about 6:45 PM it was about 60 degrees, Redding at 11:30 PM was 90 degrees. When I got to Magic Mountain Saturday about 1:50 PM it was about 108 degrees.
I want to be back in Crescent City where the weather is cool.
Dear Lord, Be with our service people in Iraq and Afghanistan. Give them cool nights and restful sleep. Keep them from the Evil One. Protect them from their enemies. We ask your blessings on them and their families.

Bob,
I can’t imagine driving those kinds of miles these days. I get sleepy after 20 minutes…
Drive safe, and thanks for the prayers. The grandson is still staying with the grandparents. Don’t know what is to become of him.

Sleepy?
A CPAP machine for sleep apnea. If you snore and your spouse says that you stop and hold your breath you may have sleep apnea. I was waking up several times a night to go to the bathroom. I went to the Kaiser Permanente sleep center. They put me in a bed in a room. I was hooked up to a bunch of sensors. The let me sleep for a n hour or so, woke me up, fitted me with a CPAP machine and let me sleep until 5 AM or so.
They said I had “moderate” sleep apnea. I had 66 times of stopping breathing in an hour. Each time I stopped breathing, my heart also stopped beating.
After getting my CPAP sleep machine, I get a restful sleep every night. If you have any doubts about whether or not you have sleep apnea, Google it and ask our doctor.

My wife says I don’t snore. But she does, and increasingly she stops breathing. I think I should recommend that she go to a sleep center…
I think a lot of my sleeplessness stems from back and shoulder pain…
