Happy last day of June!
Today’s quote is from a writer: “I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving.”

The philosopher Goethe wrote the quote. Reminds me of people who want always to be busy, even if it is a meaningless or silly task.

reminds me of my life, not where I thought it would be, but still moving in the right direction,
accomplishing some things later in life than I would have liked, but God’s plan is good and He will use it all to His glory

Both are important. Ephesians Chapter 6 tells us that after ‘having done everything to stand firm.’ (v.13) If we do that we will be moving in the right direction.
Reg, we have found that our ‘plans’ may sometimes not be God’s plan for us.

What a horrible racing weekend.
Friday night the car was really hooked up great. Then and a first time, nut case, driver wrecked us out on lap 42. He said his throttle stuck but he didn’t turn left either going into the corner. It was more than a wreck. The car is totaled and there is no sense fixing it. Nothing like another spare parts car. We should start a junk yard.
Saturday’s IRL race in Richmond was hot, hot, hot at 97 degrees, thank God for the air conditioned Torque Club, but the racing was totally boring with wrecks every 3 laps to start. I’m guessing those woosie cars would fall apart in a weak side wind. As a driver you must not be able to breathe too hard for fear of wheel or wing falling off. There was no passing at all for the entire race. 26 cars started and only 13 finished. I don’t know why I go to those boring races. The Cart and IRL merger should just fold up – more than half the seats were empty at Richmond. Eventually the only race they will have will be Indy – if they are lucky and can keep their TV contract for it. It is no wonder why all their drivers leaving for NASCAR.
2nd horrible Sprint Cup race in a row. Last week Junior won with a inferior car on a caution filled end of the race with Junior running out of gas as he crossed the finish line under a yellow after a green white checker. This week rain ended the race with 17 laps to go and Kurt Bush winning with an inferior car, along with the next 3 inferior cars, on pit stop strategy when these cars didn’t pit with the rest of a better field. The best cars got stuck behind them when they pitted for a splash of gas with 20 laps to go.

I had a bit of good news to share. My landlord told me if I have everything out of the rental by this Saturday he won’t even prorate my July rent!!!!!
Spent Saturday and Sunday nights at my dads house. Everything, boxes and boxes are piled in the kitchen but the living room is squared away. Had a nice get together Saturday night. I think everyone left about 10. Chloe wanted to go home and spend the night with her friends Claire and Anna but I wouldn’t let her. They spent the night with us and I had a living room full of little girls. I think Papa would have liked that.

Kim – My dad was Papa to his granddaughters, too. Sometimes they called him Papaya.
Dad adored his “3 beautiful granddaughters” (2 from me, 1 from my brother). (The part in quotation marks is how Mom & Dad referred to them.)

Kim et al, I will be vacating a rental here in Killeen (city near Ft Hood Texas) and moving to Fort Polk. We are “on the list” for on-post housing. Long list for company grade (captain and below) but virtually no one on the list for field grade; ie MAJOR and higher) I Lord willing pin on major in August, while our sign-in date is 18 July. The onpost housing there is privatized. The “relocation specialist” to whom I spoke said (in anticipation of a promo) that she would put me on the field grade list!
But much remains to be done. Govt contractor movers will pack up much of our household goods (HHG). We will have most of the HHG in storage until a house becomes available. That means living out of slightly more than a suitcase.
Pray please for our convoy of 350+ mi from Texas to Leesville, Louisiana. We roll out on 17 July

Anyone ever done a long, multi-day bike trip. We’re thinking about trying to do the silver comet, chief Ladiga trail. (about three days) We did a an 18 mile test trip and the five year held up real well.

Karen, thanks for sharing a beautiful memory.
Sawgunner, have a huge yard sale and don’t move your junk. I am sorting through my junk and my dad’s junk.
Everyone else, thanks for putting up with me and letting me share and work through this on line.

Congratulations Sawgunner! O-4 is a good promotion.
Kim, looks like things are working out for you. I’m praying for it.

Mumsee–hope you are having a blessed reunion with hubby. (Wish I could borrow mine for a while…)8*(
Kim, still praying for you during this time!
NJLawyer–you asked for prayer a little while back also, how are things your way? Wish I could send some cukes your way, I’m getting about 6 a day, and they are SO sweet! If I can lose three more pounds, I’m going to finally reward myself with an Ipod (something I’ve wanted for quite a while). The cucumbers are helping!
Blessings!

Thank you all for the continued prayers. My cousin, Brian is picking up daddy’s ashes today and “taking him fishing” tomorrow.

Sawgunner,
Congrats (in advance) on the promo. Wishing you the best on the move.
Kim,
I’m so glad the landlord has been gracious to you. You needed it. Hope everything goes well. Praying for you.

Doug Giles is allegedly a pastor. We need more like him. At Townhall dotcom today he had a fabulous piece addressed to the young girls at Gloucester high school in Mass. These are the kids who allegedly had a “pregnancy pact”!
Give that man a bullhorn!

Kbells,
I’ve always wanted to bike the Silver Comet (in fact our bike group usually does an annual day run) but I’ve never made it. If you ride that trail let me know, I’d love to meet up with you.

Drill, if you’re out there, just check in to say, Hi.

MIM, I don’t think one is “pre-viable” if one has drawn a breath, but Obama defines words differently than I do. I grew up in a time when if you were born in the US, you were a citizen as soon as you “popped” out.
MomofFour, I’m still waiting it out, but I’m doing something else while I wait. I had finally decided that God must want me to go one way because everything sent me in one direction, and then once I was committed, He said “there’s this, too” and I don’t know how that will turn out, though it seems very positive, just a complete 180. The two things don’t fit together, I can’t figure out what God’s up to, so I have decided to “occupy” ’til He decides. Please keep praying — and have a nice cucumber salad. They’re mostly water, so I know you’ll get that Ipod SOON. And what a way to earn it!

I have some serious ongoing eye problems and had a treatment today in which a new medicine was injected into my right eye. The potential damage to my sight over the years has been minimized (thankfully) by some laser surgeries which left small blind spots, but at least I still can drive. Others are far worse off than me but it does make me anxious nontheless. The medicine is supposed to stop the leakage in my retina (which was the purpose of the laser surgeries in the past but this is a less damaging type of new treatment) and it might even reduce some distortion that has recently developed. Your prayers are appreciated.

“…I don’t think one is “pre-viable” if one has drawn a breath…”
Why not? After all the infant is still dependant, right? [/sarcasm]
This “viability” issue is a load of stinky compost if you ask me… There’s lot’s of folks in the world that are dependant to one degree or another, and we don’t kill them off do we? (At least not yet.) Viability should not be the criteria as to whether or not we let someone live or not. As if we should play God…

Major is still the best rank in the military if you ask me – especially if you were a Sargent first
Congrats.
Joel, May God help you see the light sa He intended.

It’s funny, but if you go to ABCNews.com you get a report that Obama and Bill Clinton talked for 20 minutes and Clinton will be campaigning for Obama, that they’re “buds,” but if you go to FoxNews.com you get a report that has Bill Clinton saying that Obama could kiss a part of his anatomy.

NJL, I think the fact that Obama is willing to help pay down Hillary debt has radically changed her attitude towards him.

Happy anniversary! How many years??
Seems like little critters keep popping up for me these days. Took the kids to our school’s playground this afternoon, and noticed two adult kildeer acting crazy. I know they act this way to protect their young, so I told the kids to be careful as they played since they nest on the ground. Son #2 all of a sudden got really quiet and squatted down, calling us to him. He had found a teeny tiny little baby killdeer. I mean it looked like it had just hatched. My instinct was to leave it alone, even though I wanted to pick it up so badly. They are not ugly, like most just-hatched birds. (I read about them on a bird watching website when we got home, and found out that they are born ready to run.) Just had to share!
(Yesterday we saw a three legged deer, something new for us; it seemed to be just fine. But I have not heard my fox friend since the other night).
G’night!

MomofFour, I’m glad you feel comfortable enough in the WMB community to share your experiences. Eight weeks on your own with the kids is a looong time.
I find that it’s harder to get myself to bed at night when my hubbie’s not here. That makes no sense, really, since it leaves me more tired the next day, but that’s just how it goes! He’ll be on nights for the next few weeks, so I may end up posting some late-night comments myself…
TJ, it’s on my list of blogs to visit regularly
