“The Dark Knight” is getting some incredibly good critical reviews. Has anyone from WMB attended an advance screening? I get the feeling that the title of the movie is as much a reference to the Joker, as to Batman. This movie has something for everyone. The nihilists of WMB will easily identify with, “Some men just want to watch the world burn.”

Reposted from late last night . . . I just got less than encouraging word on the person with cancer. I don’t really know what it “means.” It looks like it means either (1) surgery is really essential or (2) it’s too late for surgery. I hope if it’s the first, that she will be open for surgery. Her husband will need wisdom in this, because he has wanted surgery but she hasn’t been willing, and at this point it might be too late anyway. And I’ll need wisdom in loving her family well.

A big zuke? Lightly blanch. Cut in half lengthwise and remove the center. Fill with cashews, peppers, onions, garlic and cheese and bake.
My wife and I are gonna try it too. She loves squash, I’m not real crazy about it, but this sounds good.
Thanks Lumpy!

Great quote!
I think it’s funny that it’s often misquoted as good advice about greatness. Really it’s pablum served up to the gullible and stuffy Malvolio to get him to fall in love with someone far above his station and then make a fool of himself trying to woo her. It’s made even more humorous with the aforementioned double-entendre.
It features in Twelfth Night as bad advice badly intended, yet many people quote it positively.

I usually use a big zucchini for zucchini bread – shred it up and it makes a mighty fine quick, spicy bread! Or, freeze it after shredding to use for fall and winter baking. Sometimes, the larger zucchinis get tough for eating as squash.

TL, I use the the same recipe for Banana Nut and Zuke Nut bread, one has squash and the other banana, Both freeze great and they make for a nice snack. Bush announces he is rescinding the presidential moratorium on drilling for oil and is going to put pressure on the obstructionist left in congress to get rid of theirs and the price of crude drops 10%. The long speculators thought about not being so greedy.
Now if the left would announce that oil companies could drill anywhere, allow nuke power, coal gasification and allow oil sand and shale production, the price would come down another 255 immediately and then fall another 50% when the oil comes on line.
Pay no attention to lefties that want you to ride bicycles as you look for a job that doesn’t exist – just as the Chinese are giving theirs up and driving to the job you used to have. Never forget who caused this energy crisis – the sky is falling left of course.
The left is in big trouble now that sane Americans know who the problem causing folks really turned out to be in the end – and who was lying to them once again – the left as usual.
Never ever trust them with your life adn money – this example should make the rule clear for everyone – except for the whack jobs of course..

I’m not voting for Obama for president. I’m voting for Bob Barr. I noted that Bush has done a 180 on this and adopted Obama’s position. The market liked it.
This week’s pullback was “huge,” said Davies. It came as “the economic mess in the U.S. continues, which has hurt current and future forecasted demand for oil.”
“At the same time there are growing signs that the fallout in the U.S. is impacting the rest of the world,” he added.
The Energy Information Administration reported Wednesday that over the past four weeks, U.S. motor gasoline demand has fallen 2.1% from the same period last year.
Another key bearish factor was recent signs that tensions between the U.S. and Iran may have defrosted, Davies said.

McCain obviously says things that are better left unsaid. Take for instance his joke about a woman being raped by a gorilla and left for dead in the street. McCain laughed that she liked it. We can;t afford to have a president who can’t control his impulses.

He lauds and fawns and drools over the Democrat candidate for president in post after post. He spams the threads (all threads – no matter what the topic) in endless meaningless canned attacks on the Republican candidate, to the point of buffonery. He only speaks about issues from a far-left (Democrat) perspective. He never actually puts forth any original thoughts or ideas (especially real Libertarian ideas or thoughts), which is just like your average Democrat.
But he CLAIMS he is not a Democrat.
Hmmm. Nah. He IS a Democrat.
He probably just got scared and confused when all the Democrats were squabbling between Obama and Clinton and ran out of the convention hall in a panic. Got lost and inadvertantly fetched up against a Libertarian campaign booth. Then he noticed that ‘Libertarian’ sounds sort of like ‘Liberal’. That made him feel kind of good. So rather than go back out in the big scary world to find his true Masters, he hunkered down right there.

Blackstone Group Announces Partnership to Build and Manage 400MW
Offshore Wind Farm in Germany
London, July 15, 2008: The Blackstone Group (NYSE: BX) today announced it has formed a
partnership with Windland Energieerzeugungs GmbH, founded in 1990 by Joachim
Falkenhagen, to complete the development and construction of Meerwind, one of the North
Sea’s largest wind farm projects. The project, which will be located 80 kilometres off the
northern coast of Germany, will cost in excess of €1 billion to build.
The wind farm will comprise 80 wind turbines with a combined generation capacity of 400MW.
It is planned to source all technical expertise and substantially all materials from within
Germany. Projects of this scale have been made possible by Germany’s comprehensive
regulatory framework and incentive schemes for renewable power, as amended by German
Parliament at the beginning of June, 2008. The area management plan for the future wind farms
in the North and East Sea was introduced by the German government on July 6, 2008. The
project supports the German government’s stated objective of fighting global warming by
reduction of its greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by the year 2020. When completed, the wind
farm will generate approximately 1.6 billion KWh annually. This would be sufficient to supply
500,000 households with electricity, thereby eliminating approximately 1.4 million tons of CO2
that would otherwise be produced from coal-fired power generation facilities.
What a shame the Democrats in the USA block all offshore wind farms because they think it would hurt their precious view. You will notice this farm is 80 KM of the coast so it can’t be seen. When this was proposed to the Dimwitted Dems in congress they still said no claiming that they might get hit by boats.
What idiots. These lefties want you to freeze in the winter, roast in the summer, ride bikes to the unemployment office while they blame you and hide the fact they are stealing all your money in taxes just so they can have their buddies cut your head off once you are broke. Today I praised Bush for now agreeing to have talks with Iran about their nukes. I like that he has taken Obama’s position and turned it into action that has helped bring oil prices down a tiny bit. It is a step in the right direction for peace, and for our wallets. Both Bush and Obama are to be commended. I trust that the other half of Bush’s brain, John McSame, will soon adopt this position because he is the same as Bush.
I also praised McCain today for flip flopping and taking on Obama’s position with regard to Afghanistan. I don’t care whose idea it is, it is a good one. We are loosing far more troops there since we took troops out to fight in Iraq and allowed the Taliban to regain their footing, and that is where we should be fighting the real war on terror.

You say the Democrats “hide the fact they are stealing all your money in taxes just so they can have their buddies cut your head off once you are broke.”
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — House Democrats drew on their new majority Thursday to pass an energy bill that would repeal roughly $14 billion in subsidies and royalty relief for the oil and natural-gas industry called “unwarranted” corporate welfare doled out by the last (Republican) Congress. The House voted largely along party lines to pass “Creating Long-Term Energy Alternatives for the Nation” on a 264(D)-123(R) vote.
House cuts oil and gas company subsidies
Was it a Republican or Democrat that decided his campaign donors – I mean oil companies enjoying RECORD profits – needed to be given corporate welfare? Which is why I lost respect for Barr when he took that nomination. He would have done better taking the Constitution Party nod; maybe it was not an option for him.

http://tinyurl.com/6zau5d
From Breitbart;
“This decision to send Undersecretary (William) Burns is an affirmation of the policy that we have been pursuing with our European allies… for some time now.”
Rice called the move “a strong signal to the entire world that we have been very serious about this diplomacy and we will remain very serious about this diplomacy.”
Rice pointed out that she had endorsed the proposal from the so-called P5 plus one — the United States, France, Britain, China, Russia and
Germany — on incentives to advance talks with Iran on halting its nuclear program.
She called sending Burns to Geneva to meet with Jalili and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana the “book end” to that process.
“But it should be very clear to everyone the United States has a condition for the beginning of negotiations with Iran, and that condition remains the verifiable suspension of Iran’s enrichment and reprocessing activities,” Rice said.
Asked in an interview with CNN, excerpts of which were aired Friday, whether sending Burns to Geneva was a major policy change, Rice answered:
“I acknowledge that what we’ve done is to make a step that we think demonstrates to everyone our seriousness about this process.
“But what has not changed is that the United States is determined to have negotiations only when Iran has suspended its enrichment and reprocessing. That’s when the United States can join.”
Asked if Saturday’s meeting is a one-shot deal, Rice replied, “This is.”
“We have one chance to receive the Iranian response. I transmitted the proposal. (Burns) will receive the response,” she told CNN.
“He will listen, and if Iran is ready to suspend, then the United States will be there.”
2 things. 1. This has been in the works for quite some time. I think this is a good move by Bush. Now we try Obamas way, and see what happens. 2. Do you really think the Iranians are gonna go along with this one time deal? See, there are conditions, and if Iran doesn’t agree, you can say you at least tried Obama’s way. And if they don’t agree, and won’t accept, then Obama looks like the amatuer he is.
Report comment to moderator
Why then, GL, did oil prices begin falling the very day Bush announced an end to the moratorium on off-shore drilling, and several days before the possibility of talks with Iran was announced?
Report comment to moderator
And #47 is weak. You’re again claiming Bush is taking Obama’s lead here. That’s inaccurate. Your underhanded compliment is the way you wish it was, but it’s not. Bush has been clear from the start on when troop withdrawl would start. When the Iraqis could defend themselves, and they now appear to be much better at it, and their role is expanding, as it should. He said he’d consider it when the commanders on the ground advised it. Because the surge worked, and the Iraqis are better trained and equiped, now the commanders feel it’s time. Bush has simply kept his word. He’s doing what he said he would, when he said he would. You think way too kindly of Obama if you think he in any way influenced this. This is all in spite of Obamas efforts.
From your link;
What’s changed? The sharp reduction in violence in Iraq — to the lowest level in four years — has made the country’s leaders increasingly confident and more assertive about its sovereignty, giving rise to demands for a specific plan for American forces to leave.
So far, the United States has handed control of 10 of 18 provinces to Iraqi officials. “Obviously, if Iraqis are assuming more missions, then you need less American troops,” Johndroe said.
The White House sought to make a distinction between talking with Iraqis about withdrawals and attempts by Congress to force cutbacks.
“I think it’s important to remember that the discussions about timeline issues previously were from Democrats in Congress who wanted to arbitrarily retreat from Iraq without consideration of conditions on the ground,” said White House deputy press secretary Scott Stanzel, who was traveling with Bush in Tucson, Ariz.
“All of the discussions that we have always had have been based on conditions on the ground and making progress in the country, and we are doing just that,” Stanzel said. “We are making progress on the security situation. The number of attacks has dropped dramatically in recent months.”
A major troop buildup ordered by Bush in January 2007 has ended. In recent days, the 3rd Infantry Division’s 2nd Brigade, the last of the five additional combat brigades sent in last year, left the country. There are still 150,000 U.S. troops in Iraq — as many as 15,000 more than before the buildup began.
Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said on Wednesday that he is likely to recommend further troop reductions this fall because security has improved.
Your view of it pretty much isn’t reality based.

I have seen no financial reports indicating Bush ending the oil drilling moratorium George H. W. Bush put in place had anything to do with the price fluctuation.
Rather, they all cite lower demand, poor economic outlook in the US, and that Iran and US will be in nuke talks instead of nuking this weekend. I’ve provided sources above you could have looked at. MarketWatch and Bloomberg Business are hardly tabloids. There are many more. Here is the chain of events. At best, Bush’s plan to dig more holes was a small contributiing factor.
On Sunday July 13th President Mahmoud Ahmadinnerjacket said he was ready to talk with the US about nukes. This is big news because IRAN is the second largest oil producer and the moonbat neo-cons have been threatening to bomb it! Understand?
Oil opened down on Monday. Monday afternoon George W. Bush lifted George H. W. Bush’s moratorium on offshore oil drilling.
Tuesday, Fed Chairman Bernanke finished his second day of testimony before Congress and expressed concerns about slowing economic growth and inflation. The Dollar hits a record low against the Euro. OPEC warns that high pump prices are likely to erode global demand for crude. Crude prices drop $5 a barrel on this news. Supply and demand.
Wednesaday, the US agrees to talk instead of bomb OPEC’s second largest oil producer, Iran. Oil goes down further! Markets like stability.
Thursday, American Petroleum Institute reports US oil demand dropped 3% during first-half 2008, confirming OPEC assertion.
Did you follow that?

Christine at Ron’s Five Point Sinclair located at 405 Rhomberg Ave says a gallon of Premium went down to $4.099 just this morning
Linda at the Kwik Stop 2335 University Ave, has Premium at $4.099

Well, Lumpy, all I know is that all the gas stations here in downtown Dubuque currently charge $3.79 for their most-premium fuel (the only kind my Nissan Pathfinder enjoys), and I thank President Bush every time I fill up at these cheaper and cheaper prices.
(I realize that a President has next to nothing to do with gas prices, but around here the anti-Bush crowd blames him for everything so I like to “return the favor.”)
If you don’t want to hold to your promise of donating to the Christian charity of my choice, that’s between you and the Lord. Have a nice evening!

What you are buying is the low grade stuff and a Nissan will run fine on that. Enjoy it.
I honored my word.
