The ancient Greeks abolished their Olympics because they had become so corrupt and generally disgusting.

What made people in the modern world think restarting them would turn out in a different fashion escapes me.

BTW, I'm glad the born-again Christians on this blog have found the source of the "Pray for China" bracelets I mentioned earlier. My wife is wearing ours now, and is grateful I didn't mail it to someone else. :)

Night Train: According to your posts on this blog it would be understanding that anyone would refer to you as an atheist.

Try not calling Justus a "liar" and an "idiot" and maybe he will listen to what you are saying and call you a Deist (however you happen to define it).

BTW, how would you define it?

I do pray for safety. One of the most egregious evils of all time was when the PLO massacred most of the entire Israeli Olympic team in Munich and no one wants this sort of thing ever again.

The policy of putting politics aside for other accomplishments is good for the world, even if only symbolic for some. The point is, there is so much more to life, and to nations, than politics.

The best kind of politics is the kind that is limited enough so that it CAN be set aside for other accomplishments. Politics are important, but the "politics are everything" approaches prevelent in this world are the worst sort of politics. That's one reason why limited gov't is healthy. Leave lots of room for sport, art, faith, family and freedom in the private sector.

Just a general thought.

China's athletic goals and talents for these games lean more to the individual events and contests. The USA's goals and talents lean a little to the team sport contests. Of course, both will be involved in both. While this differece may be slight, it is still observable and interesting since the USA values individualism so much more and China. as a culture, values conformity and group precision.

What an idiot. As I've told you, specifically, before, I'm a deist. Quit lying about me.

You are an atheist. All your anti-christian screed is asinine.
Knock it off. You are not amusing.
