Meet Debra the Democrat for McCain
Debra supported Hillary Clinton for president. Now she’s voting Republican. How many Debras do you think are out there?

I saw this commercial and wondered the same thing. I suppose this gives those who are questioning where to go someone to join. If someone else has jumped shipped, others are more likely to do so. (I just don’t want to keep seeing this commercial. It wasn’t slick, but it didn’t seem all that professional either. Debbie needs to be upgraded a bit.)

In the past weekend, I have been queried by those from both sides of the aisle about who I plan to vote for. I told them both it was none of their business. Am I the only one bothered by the fact that both parties seem to want to have the election decided before Nov? I almost want to tell them some off the wall answer just to skew their results.

Klasko, tell them you are voting off the wall.

Isn’t this a bit of a yellow flag for Republicans, the message being that McCain is close enough to Hillary to satisfy her supporters?

Many of the reputed Clinton supporters who are pro-McCain are actually Republican sock puppets.
The Clinton for McCain site was founded by the RNC in May
http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2008/06/republican-nati.html
The founder of PUMA (Party Unity My A**) PAC, Darragh C. Murphy, an outspoken Clinton supporter on FOX news, donated $500 to McCain’s campaign in 2000. She founded the PAC prior to the suspension of Clinton’s campaign.
“Divisions in the Democratic party” are a Republican talking point picked up by a complicit media.

Yeah, McCain has never claimed to be an ultra-conservative, but I think the ad is really to encourage Hillary supporters to register their displeasure with the way Hillary was treated. Even Hillary and Barack have agreed that they aren’t all that far apart.
I also saw on the news today that war protesters, etc., have arrived in Denver and are ready to cause trouble.

Not enough.
There are some conservative women (mostly post-50) who deeply liked Hillary. In talking with them, it is clear to me that they identify with her, even to the point of crossing party lines to vote. I think it was the toughness in playing what til then had been a boy’s game.
At the same time, it is clear that Obama is also picking up Republicans who like his more centrist confrontational, less bellicose style.
It’s probably a wash.

Not sure, but there are probably a lot more than the Obama campaign and the MSM want us to believe.

Oh, I forgot to add. I hope there a re enough Debras out there to push McCain over the top so my protest vote won’t put Obama in the White House. (Will we have to change that to “Executive Mansion” so as not to appear racist?)

But he’s not a centrist. Choosing Biden proves that. They don’t reach across the aisle, either one of them.
I suppose real feminists who really wanted a woman and feel this was a woman’s turn might vote for McCain, but Harris is probably right about a wash.

I think the whole “Hillary supporters voting for McCain” has been overlblown by the media. Yes, there will be some. But most people will vote with their party come November. There has also been the factor of Republicans and conservatives (Rush) “masking” themselves as Hillary supporters, when in reality they’re not.
Like so many other stories, the media takes a kernal of truth and spins it into a gigantic whirlwind. When you have 24/7 to fill up with news, advertisers to please, and need to grow your audience, this kind of stuff gets blown all out of proportion.

I hope McCain is setting his own vulnerable character up for a spectacular collapse.
Ain’t it something, though voters turning to the Republicans because they’re unhappy at how Hillary was treated.
Voters will figure out that any given candidate X can find former supporters of candidate Y who now support X. McCain acts like he’s discovered a remarkable social phenomenon.

How many Debras? Not as many as the Republicans crossing the aisle for Obama. Here, for example, is the website traffic report comparing visits to dems4mccain.info and republicansforobama.com.

Let’s not forget or discount all the RINOs like former Rhode Island Senator Lincoln Chafee. Not a really big surprise but Linc is a big time Obamanoid. Thus Barack can claim bipartisan support, no? And did anyone read National Review’s piece calling Biden “Obama’s Dick Cheney”?! Spot on as the Brits say.

The idea of clinton supporters crossing en masse to the mccain campaign is a republican talking point endorsed by the media. The media likes this narrative because it gives the appearance of action.

Not one of you sees reason for alarm? I think you would have a problem with McCain marketing himself so heavily to Hillary supporters. What does it say about who he is going to be faithful to after the election? That’s a lot of wishy wash for an idiotic media ploy.
This tactic (including the Hillary ad WMB didn’t put up – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NrQ36Djf2E&feature=user) is stupid and it shows the absolutely pathetic state of the McCain campaign.
McCain is becoming more and more the caricature that Obama wants him to be. If I were a right wing conspiracy nut, I’d be wondering right about now.

Luke, you don’t need to be a right wing conspiracy nut. David Brooks is pleading with Democrats not to respond to McCain as his present conduct deserves but recognize him as the honorable man whom Brooks believes he once was. Brooks blames “the system” for getting McCain hooked on cheap political highs (ignoring the fact that “the system” is Rove’s back room shop.) Brooks is asking Democrats to save Republicans from their own demons.
