This is way past liberalism. I am surprised he didn’t pray for God to stike dead all rich people too but forgot they want to rape them all and steal all their money before having God stike them dead.

Don’t you mean “political evangelical conservatism,” JJF? Because “theological evangelical conservatism” is often an entirely different thing. I attend church, for example, with those of both persuasions — and they are definitely not the same (though there may be overlap).

When conservative evangelicalism (either theological or political) takes a stand on “concern for justice” or “concern for the unborn,” BTW, we’re not reducing our entire worldview to those issues. We’re merely expressing our view on those issues, as influenced by our worldview.

I don’t like it any more than I like evangelical conservatism. It sounds to me just as phony, just as sanctimonious, just as tarnished.

A concern for justice and the poor is admirable. A concern for the unborn and unprotected is admirable. These are values that are rooted in religious belief, but when Christianity is reduced to these things, it is made small.
