Who said the Olympics have lost their appeal? Two out of three people around the globe watched at least a portion of the Beijing Games on TV. According to Nielsen Media Research, 4.7 billion viewers worldwide tuned in, which was 20 percent larger than the audience for the 2004 Games from Athens, Greece. China accounted for more viewers than any other country, with 94 percent of its 1.3 billion people catching the action on the tube. Here in the United States, the 2008 Games were the most-watched event in American TV history.
