Given the present dismal state of American foreign affairs, I suggest that it will be hard for Obama to do worse and there are good reasons to suggest he may do better. Hmm, Joel,

The man in the flattering film was suddenly the guy before our eyes in real time, seamlessly and wonderfully materialized out of our own hopes and mythic memory. He truly is the Messiah -- or a fantastic executive and flawless organizer of the most complex and difficult of all social objectives in the modern world -- a presidential campaign. I was electrified by the transition from the beautiful photography and editing to the live broadcast of Obama speaking to “Florida” from a stadium. The man in the flattering film was suddenly the guy before our eyes in real time, seamlessly and wonderfully materialized out of our own hopes and mythic memory.

He truly is the Messiah — or a fantastic executive and flawless organizer of the most complex and difficult of all social objectives in the modern world — a presidential campaign.
