John M, I’m not that pessimistic. What we will have will be a media savvy Iraqi strongman. He and his Islamic Evita will be feted and praised for their modernization of Iraq but the hard core Sayid Qutb-type muslims will rot in Iraqi jails or simply become “desparicidos” akin to what the dictators in South America did with their leftist malcontent trouble-makers and dissidents.
But yes, just as homelessness stories disappear with Democratic administrations so too will bad news from Iraq vanish with Barack in the Oval Office.

Right after Obama’s precipitous and immediate retreat in January, there will be a media clampdown. News from Iraq will be impossible to get and we won’t know what’s going on there unless people like Mindy tell us. The West will simply throw the whole country down the memory hole because they didn’t like Bush’s redneck accent. Tragic.

Odd how with just a slight change of wording the criticism’s in this piece apply to inner cities plagued by drive-by shooters and other ilk.
We can’t truly expect Iraqis to do stuff we havent had the will to do here in the USA can we? Tighter border control? Better neighborhood policing? More “Hey how are you today?” beat cops more akin to Mayberry’s Sheriff than SS Besatzunggruppen polizei? Many Iraqi police still wear terrorist ski masks for fear that they will be identified and their families harmed
