All my family is here including Zoe, Chuck’s dog, and Mary’s boy friend. Others will start arriving about 10:00 and we eat around 12:00. The SC/Clemson game starts at noon and there will be several Gamecock fans here, so I may not miss much.
Minor correction on previous thread. I said the price of Carolina season tickets went wp $395. I misread that. The increase was from $25to$395, depending on something. But the renewal rate wads 92%, as I said.

Rant Getting up at 6 a.m. on a Saturday to go get the oil changed in the truck so I can hit the road for Louisiana tomorrow morning. I’m sitting in the Krystal waiting on my truck and blogging.

RaveI found a Craftsman mechanics chair on sale at Sears for $19.99. I’m giving it to my buddy who works on my truck when it’s broken. He replaced my power steering pump and didn’t charge me any labor. What a guy!

Second day of rain here. Yesterday Hubbie taught the kid to play a video game and now I think he is hooked.

We usually get our Christmas tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Is there a Black Saturday.

Today is the Alabama/Auburn game and this is the best chance in six years we’ve had of winning.

If we lose I may have to kill Hubbie the Auburn fan.

This Auburn thing is about the only thing wrong with my husband. Otherwise he’s perfect.

I didn’t get to surf while in South Africa
I got all the writing done I went to do

There is still a huge, unjust disparity between blacks and whites in SA
That is changing, albeit slowly, and hopefully not as violently as Zimbabwe

It was odd to come right home to hosting Thanksgiving
It made me appreciate the people at table more than the meal

I got to watch the SA rugby team trounce the English at Twickenham live on SA TV.
And today I get to watch the Crimson Tide roll!

My son went to U. S. Carolina, my DIL went to College of Charleston.
Last night, College of Charleston beat the Gamecocks 82/80 in basketball. First time since 1930, second time ever.

Over 200 people served Thanksgiving dinner at church on Thursday.

Over 100 food boxes and socks and gloves and winter coats given away.

Nice quiet Thanksgiving dinner with the family and a friend yesterday.

DD and her roomate witnessed a hit and run on I95 on the way here for dinner.

They got the guy’s license plate number and called the police.

The driver of the car that was hit and run off the road is OK.

We grt to play with our new puppy for a few hours today.

We can’t keep her for another 2 weeks. (She needs another booster shot – next week – so she doesn’t get parvo. One of our other dogs is a parvo survovor/carrier.)

Dinner with friends this evening.

I learned to play Boggle.

No matter what I do, my long-time playing son beats me hands down.

We enjoyed seeing Bolt in 3-D yesterday. Take your kids, it’s really fun, especially if you’ve had a hamster.

Good conversation with my son.

We still haven’t gotten to the root of the problem and I don’t know what more to do. Prayer continues and perhaps I need to fast more.

Michelle, I’m much better at words than my sister-in-law, but she usually beats me at Boggle since she plays it regularly.

A great Thanksgiving and visits with family–the best in a long time.

Three nights in a row with hardly any sleep.

Misten needs a game of fetch after two days alone (with minimal, basic care by my housemate, who’s rarely here), and it’s raining out.

The world’s cutest nieces (one is actually a grandniece)–twenty months and three–finally got to meet each other and play together this week.

My homemade cards for the grown-ups and miniature cards and paper teddy bears for the children were a hit.

Won the “Great Turkey Cook-Off”. My BBQ’d stuffed with oranges and lemons, vs. friend’s deep fried.
Fed 20 people (the dinner).
Fed 20 People (the aftermath).
Found new landscaper
Did some shopping yesterday (and have the bruises to prove it). I’m pretty much convinced that some of the largest eveil in the world actually inhabits shopping malls.

Whole family (including me) hasn’t been feeling well since last night
Most of us are feeling all or slightly better at the moment
Waking up at around 5:30 (with a stomachache) to try to be one of the first 100 shoppers who would receive a $20 gift certificate at the AAFES BX/PX on Pope AFB…and finding out that there weren’t any left.

Wonderful Thanksgiving, 17 people present. Beats the three we had last year!

Friends arrived safely from South Africa…happened to make it in time for Thanksgiving dinner. They win the travel trophy!

Delivered 44 bags of rice to a nearby village.

A fellow missionary’s shipping container arrived at dusk last night. We unloaded by the light of car headlights and head lamps. Finished in about 2 hours.

Chatted on-line with my sister, my nephew and my niece this week.

Still waiting for that package to arrive. 8 weeks and counting.

Had a very lovely & fun Thanksgiving, with the family gathering at our house.

A family composed of liberal non-Christians & conservative Christians that can get along, laugh together, & love each other despite our religious & political differences.

A working dishwasher (after several years without one), & my younger daughter, who actually offers to help without being asked.

We’re in North Carolina with Emily and Alex.

We celebrated Thanksgiving with a collection of college students, church friends and colleagues. Lots of fun.

With a 14 hour trip back home, we’re going to miss church tomorrow. (but at least there’s no snow!)

Rave rave rave, third Son is back from foreign lands, first Son and Hub were here for Thanksgiving, Daughter was here just before Thanksgiving, we got the firewood in for the winter, we have our final adoption date this coming week, second Son will be in the area this coming weekend and we hope to see him, house is coming along.

Don’t nobody talk about football today.
OK, KBells can talk about Bama, but that’s all.

A cartoon in today’s comics is about the top three worst-selling calendars for 2009, i.e. “2009 Binomial a day Calendar”, “Funny Cockroach”, etc. Reminds me of a calendar I saw Friday night; it was “Sayings of Obama”. I didn’t see a line for it.

Harris, did you wave as you went by? I didn’t see you.

We had a nice “Christmas dinner” for 32 people yesterday. Three of whom were less than 3 mos old. One five weeks.

I went out last night ringing the bell at Wal-Mart for the Salvation army. It was cold and wet. They came for the kettle after two hours, and I didn’t have to stay all three, as planned.
Sometimes a hot cup of coffee in Chick-fil-A is something to be thankful for.

Excellent sermon today on God’s sovereignty and being thankful; key phrase: There but for the grace of God go I. From my notes, “Apart from God’s grace in our lives we would be in the same condition as those we find most reprehensible. Let us be challenged this Thanksgiving not to glory in our own character but to thank God for it.”

God’s mercy and patience toward me this past week (and always!).

Pride.

Rom. 4:7-8: Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven, And whose sins have been covered (by the blood of Christ); (8) Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account.

Chas — shoulda waved. Eh, but we were in liberal Durham…

We’re back home, after a day on the road with more rain than I ever want to see. The snow in Michigan wasn’t a lot of fun either.

We had to miss church, but did hear several fine examples on the radio, including a young Billy Graham. My!

And on the radio: thank you Moody Bible Institute.
