Good news for kids
One facet of our publishing company we don’t talk much about here on the blog is God’s World News. But because of how it helps develop Christian thinking and character in our children, it may be the most important thing we do.
The four monthly grade-appropriate editions—used by schools, homeschoolers, and individual families—offer reports on current events that are engaging, challenging, and written from a biblical point of view. If you have a school-aged child or grandchild or friend of the family, I encourage you to give God’s World News a try (it would make a thoughtful Christmas gift). And now’s a great time to check the magazines out: The December issues are available online for free.
If you want just a sampling of the excellent work the GWN team does each month, I recommend that you download this special section on Worldviews from December’s Top Story (for grades six and up).

Very sly Mickey! I went to the links. I read and decided on the spot to get a sub for my 6 year old. (I hope her 8 yr old sister will read it as well)
A marketing ploy straight outta Mr Hearst’s playbook, no doubt!

Hmmm… I’m a little skeptical about the whole idea of pegging Christianity to a narrowly defined worldveiw. Most of these things are basically saying “God has a specific opinion about EVERY detail on the planet and every possible decision you face in your life is a moral one. Plus, the only way you can figure out what He thinks is by listening to us”.
This allows us to spend lots of time SPECULATING on what God thinks about inane stuff like where I should work, or what car to buy, or where to go on vacation, or what to name my cat, rather than actually ACTING on things where he has a CLEAR opinion, like serving the poor or evangelizing.

That being said, the magazine does look very fun and well-produced. Congratulations!

How odd this is. Your child (evangelical Christian parents) goes to Sunday School, goes to church, gets a subscription to God’s World News, and probably gets to go to heaven. My daughter and my granddaughter get raised to be atheists and burn in Hell forever.

What is odd, Random Name, is that you appear to not know how people get to Heaven or Hell. Maybe you should check out the Bible on these important issues…since it is the authority from which believers get their information on these everlasting places!
Just a suggestion…
Besides…Do atheists didn’t believe in Hell?…so how is it that you think your posterity will go there???
Hint…going to Sunday School, church, getting a subscription to God’s World News has absolutely ZERO to do with going to Heaven or Hell according to the Scriptures.

How odd it is. A child goes to Sunday school and church, gets a subscription to GWN, and still has to decide whether or not he will acknowledge his sin and need for a Saviour. I, raised by nonbelievers with no church input, “stumble” into vacation Bible school as a teen, and find that not only is there a God but He loves me with such love that He was willing to lay down His life for me so I could spend eternity with Him. And a random granddaughter might well “stumble” into the teaching of some evangelistic minded first grader who will tell her about the One, leading her to ackowledge her sin and need for a saviour that she too might spend eternity with Him and perhaps meeting and engaging in conversation with some mumsee who virtually knew her grandfather and prayed for him and her to find the Peace of the King of Kings. Odd, indeed, and Worthy is He Who made it possible for anybody on the face of the planet to come to Him.

Many of my Christian friends did not have Christian upbringings. I know others who, despite a Christian upbringing, are not (so far) to be counted among those in the faith.
So go figure, RN.
God is funny that way. He chooses whom He will, for His good pleasure and purpose.

It was through the God’s World Newsletters that I stumbled upon World Magazine. I have been reading it ever since. God’s World was read by my children as a substitute for the Weekly Reader.
What a marvelous God who provides the Way to himself and many, many to point us to that Way. I pray for your eyes to be opened, RN and those of your family. I know your love is deep for them and I know God’s love for you all is deeper still.

In some round-about fashion I ended up here by way of God’s World papers. When I was teaching in a Christian school we used them instead of Weekly Readers. I heard of World magazine through them. I read passed around issues of World here in The Gambia because one of the missionary families subscribed. When they left the field ( and thus the magazine stopped coming), I found World magazine on-line and from there stumbled into the blog. Which is better than stumbling into the bog, but has some similarities.
