Unborn babies join Twitter trend
So even unborn babies are on Twitter now. NYU student Corey Menscher developed the Kickbee, a wearable device that uses electronic sensors to detect fetal movements, transmits the signals to a MacBook Pro via Bluetooth, and then sends it to Twitter.
Corey’s baby’s Twitter is unfortunately very repetitive:
I kicked Mommy at 12:18PM on Thu, Dec 11!
I kicked Mommy at 12:04PM on Thu, Dec 11!Wow I’m being very active! I kicked Mommy 13 times at 03:44AM on Thu, Dec 11!
It’s probably only of interest to those with a near-geeky interest in social networking developments (like, um, me) or to expectant fathers who want to be apprised of their baby’s every move. In any case, looking forward to the next development in fetal microblogging technology.

This might just prove to doubters that an unborn baby is indeed life. Or, they may be so hardened that they will not notice.

That’s what I thought, Peter L. Maybe this is our abortion thread for the day.

It’s not a “baby”! It’s a “product of conception”!

I’d say that anything that brings to the consciousness of today’s jaded morals (amorals?) the reality of a baby’s humanity just might be the start of a very good trend.

The hard-core proAborts will surely be flummoxed by this. It calls to mind how the appearance of Xerox photocopiers spellt the beginning of the end for the Iron Curtain. (If you have a means to photcopy pages you have your own printing press not controlled by any state news agency).
Here’s hopin’ Carenet passes these things out at free or substantially reduced prices.

Good point, Sawgunner.

I don’t have great hopes that this will change anyone’s mind. Although if only one person changes their mind that’s more than there was before.
That being said, the first thing that popped into my mind, as (another) mom of 5, was that that could be a good tool for monitoring the baby’s movements. In the last trimester, the docs want you to keep track of them to make sure nothing’s wrong. Personally, I’m too distracted with the other kids to even notice every movement unless things are quiet. This could be a great way not only for the mom to see the pattern but for others to see it, too. That might even save a baby’s life.
