Illinois House impeaches Blagojevich
According to the AP report:
House members found evidence that the two-term Democrat had abused his power, including improperly spending tax money, adopting programs without legislative approval and violating state hiring laws. He’s denied wrongdoing.

The citizens of Illinois can breath a sigh of relief as this chapter is almost over. From my dealings in the state (I live in MO, work in IL) no one will miss him. He is thought of more as a joke. It looks like the sentiment in the Senate is the same as the House. You know something is wrong when your own party rejects you.

Democrats and liberals take note.
This is what real corruption looks like. It’s not your trumped-up, media hyped, mindless hatred type of accusations that you perpetrated against another prominent governor in recent history.

He will get the same kid glove treatment shown to Sandy Burglar, you just watch.

Is the first time in our lifetime that Democrats have prosecuted one of their own, finally putting ethics over partisan politics?
Wait, not so fast. This may be political after all. Reid gave Blogo a list of people (all black) not to appoint because of the potential to lose the seat in 2 years to a Republican. Blago thumbed his nose at his fellow Democrats. So maybe what we are witnessing is a power play, cannibalizing one of their own for political reasons. Machiavelli would be proud.
Or not … just wondering …

I highly doubt it, sawgunner. Even the Chicago machine is not stupid enough to allow that, considering the national attention the story has gotten.

The current group of legislators’ terms end this week. The adjournment kills the bill of impeachemtn.
The new group of legislators take office next week. The new session of the House will have to vote a new bill for the new Senate to consider.
So we really aren’t any further ahead than we were.
And the one House member who voted against the bill is a real peach, no?

The monumental silence on the part of our resident liberals on this thread is deafening… Even as they continue to pillory Palin on other threads. Hypocrits.
