Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is skipping his impeachment trial and instead is making the rounds on the TV talk show circuit. This morning on ABC’s Good Morning America, the governor said he had considered naming Oprah Winfrey to Barack Obama’s Senate seat:

“She seemed to be someone who would help Barack Obama in a significant way become president. She was obviously someone with a much broader bully pulpit than other senators.”

Next on the gov’s media tour will be appearances on Larry King Live and The View, which led Sen. Dick Durbin to point out, “Barbara Walters is not on his jury.”
