I was talking with one of our other reporters this morning, Alisa Harris, about putting together some non-gloom and doom news bits. Sure, the Dow closed below 6,600 yesterday, but there are other things going on in the world that aren’t awful or depressing.

  1. In Washington today, it is warm.
  2. You could buy a share of Bank of America for the same price as a latte. (Is that positive? You decide.)
  3. A woman in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Houston just paid off the mortgage for her first house.
  4. Scientists have discovered seven new species of deep sea bamboo coral in the ocean near Hawaii.
  5. Today is Alan Greenspan’s birthday! (Grasping at straws, here)

Anyone else want to take a shot at it?
