The optimist
I was talking with one of our other reporters this morning, Alisa Harris, about putting together some non-gloom and doom news bits. Sure, the Dow closed below 6,600 yesterday, but there are other things going on in the world that aren’t awful or depressing.
- In Washington today, it is warm.
- You could buy a share of Bank of America for the same price as a latte. (Is that positive? You decide.)
- A woman in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Houston just paid off the mortgage for her first house.
- Scientists have discovered seven new species of deep sea bamboo coral in the ocean near Hawaii.
- Today is Alan Greenspan’s birthday! (Grasping at straws, here)
Anyone else want to take a shot at it?

Even though the jobless rate is 8.1%, that still means that 91.9% of folks still have jobs. Isn’t that good news?

Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo is settling down a little!
For anyone who’s followed the tragedies there for the last few years, this is an encouraging prospect.

My mom is doing very well after last week’s surgery.
America is still free – no need for martial law, no need for refugee areas, no fear of “the late-night knock on the door”.

Any one in the repair or used business is doing well. My husband is good at repairing, used production trucks.

I’ll give it a shot. Vietnam and Russia have better credit ratings and much less chance of default than Berkshire Hathaway and GE. Plus they got cheap vodka and almost free DVD’s, CD’s and Software for sale on every corner.
When told these were quite true facts that Obama had reduced all private enterprises, even those owned and run by his Marxist buddies who are his economic advisers, to a state of near third world worthlessness the messiah said “Let me call our Comrades in the Kremlin and Ho Chi Minh City for an official response while they set up that teleprompter for me but, I am sure that Rush Limbaugh had his right wing conspiracy hands in this but that Bush is probably still responsible.”

Yes! More people are realizing that human caused global warming is a hoax, there’s no need to worry about it or waste valuable resources “fixing” it. Now if we can just get that message through to President Obama and a majority of congress.

Whoopie Golberg is beginning to understand that it’s not all right for the politicians to be all up in her pocket book with those taxes….
You go girl. We’re glad you are finally getting it, even if you are a crazy drunk liberal who makes obscene comments about the president.
