John McCain, George Soros, and a cultural takeover of Iran
In an intriguing bit of propaganda put out by the Iranian intelligence ministry, the video below depicts John McCain, George Soros, and others plotting a way to infiltrate Iran through cultural domination. The TV short shows young Iranian intellectuals – much like those currently protesting – turning their backs on their families to help the Americans and in turn get visas to the United States.

I missed some of the script but it seems overall that they are paranoid about losing credibility and control over their own people, so their strategy is apparently to create fear on false pretenses and keep people living in fear on false pretenses. Line up the usual suspects and demonize, blame and conspire about conspiracies until people can’t think straight. Paranoia is the mother of many lies.

Every delusion of conspiracy begins with a premise that is believable and then stretches it into tinfoil. In this case there’s reference to the color revolutions of Georgia and Ukraine. There’s growing evidence to suggest that both groups received training and equipment from US agencies; hence the reference to Gene Sharp. Given that the opposition has chosen a color — green in this case — the similarities are enough to sway some individuals. Thus what we see as crude propaganda will be quite effective.

Soros’ NGO – Open Society Institute, is well know abroad for its programs that support accountability and transparency in government. NGO’s like OSI, Freedom House, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International are lumped in as one in the perception that the USG and its perceived organs are working for regime change. It is unsurprising that intel agencies from other countries would lump these independent non-governmental orgs with US figures. McCain, thought to be abroad, as the inheritor of GW Bush’s freedom agenda (read for average foreigner as well as hostile gov’ts – regime change).

HRW, there is exactly ZERO that is believable about raw political lies as seen in that video. It is exploitation of people’s ignorance and it has no bearing in anything that smacks of reality. It is not stretched from anything believable, but from previous lies that were also stretched from previous deception that were stretched from former fantasies of repression and tyranny.

Uhm, Joel, that’s what propaganda is — exploiting people’s ignorance with lies. If its decent propaganda it will particularly stroke their fears. In a nationalist country like Iran, this is, I have to agree with HRW’s bottom line, crude but effective propaganda.
