Are celebrities more important that terror attacks?

You actually have to ask the question?

This story makes it sound like some Al Jazeera nut case went berserk.

I think you mean al-queda not Al-jazeera which is the news channel.

By ‘idol worshipers’ is also meant Christians because Christians love the cross.

Although Islam counts Christian as people of the book, they view Christianity as leaning far too close to polytheism with its doctrine of the Trinity, hence their criticism of Christianity. Icons and relics in the eastern tradition may also pose problems.

It may indeed be true that Islam is worse than Christianity.

However, there are a lot of Muslims and a lot of Christians, so I am not sure how much all the glorious generalizations flying around here apply to members of either group.

I doubt that most of (or even any of) the Christians at worldmagblog are terrorists. On the other hand, I've known a number of Muslims, none of whom seemed threatening to me.

On another hand, I've known a lot of Christians, many of whom do not seem to be homo-hysterics, though judging from what I've read on worldmagblog for several years, a person might jump to the conclusion such an attitude is endemic in the Christian community.

#4 Xion
From the Koran
[9:3] A proclamation is herein issued from ALLAH and His messenger to all the people on the great day of pilgrimage, that ALLAH has disowned the idol worshipers, and so did His messenger. Thus, if you repent, it would be better for you. But if you turn away, then know that you can never escape from ALLAH. Promise those who disbelieve a painful retribution.
[9:5] Once the Sacred Months are past, you may kill the idol worshipers when you encounter them, punish them, and resist every move they make.
By 'idol worshipers' is also meant Christians because Christians love the cross.

#5 PeterL,
The conditions there are worse than you would ever suspect. And the history is worse than you suspect. Check out Almoravids on the net.
If Hollywood could ever do it justice there is plenty of history of battles and conquests and intrigues in this region to make a thousand movies.
(If they starred Danny DeVito I would watch them. :) )

Can anyone here point to Nouakchott on a map? Or even Mauritania?
Or say why these places are important?

Nouakchott is the 'largest city in the Sahara". Its rapid development occurred due to the droughts of the 1970's. Today its ARAFAT subdivision is a hotbed of crime and depravity. On the outskirts of Nouakchott is one of the largest tent cities populated by former nomads. The city council wants to get rid of the tent city by moving the people into the ARAFAT subdivision. Conditions are so bad there they call it "Kosovo".
Nouakchott is an opportunity for evangelism. Please pray for all of the people there.

"Are celebrities more important than terror attacks?"
It's come to that, hasn't it?

Some day we will wake up and all of this is gone.

On today's Whirled Views, I mention another attack that seems to have gotten short shrift as well.

June 8th, Israeli soldiers foiled a large scale attack at the Gaza border. Did you hear about that?

Nowhere in the AP story does it say he was doing Christian missionary work, just teaching computers. I guess Al Qaeda is so Dark Ages minded that they do not want others to have modern technology? That seems hypocritical, as they use modern tech to get their message out.

Chas- We have not heard about it because most media outlets are tied up with Michael Jackson or Farrah Fawcett.

This story makes it sound like some Al Jazeera nut case went berserk.

But do you realize that in most Muslim countries it is the law. The law proscribes the death penalty for apostasy. Even in so-called friendly countries like Saudi, Egypt, Jordan, etc. "Muslim scholars" were debating this very thing two months ago.

And yet Obama lavishes them with praise and bows down to their princes and apologizes for America, while these countries approve of the murder of converts.

The dateline on this story is 25 June. I wonder why we haven't heard about this elsewhere? Especially Drudge. Cleveland, Tenn. is not far from here. (But like other places in the mountains, it would take hours to get there.)
