This is a case of "all politics are local." That's what I like about the House of Representatives. Reps are constantly in campaign mode. They have a quick 2 years before their record is up for review.

An informed electorate can keep their Reps feet to the fire. 19 votes is a bloc that will get attention, and attention is what they want.

I applaud the blue dog Dems for their stance.

"Got any kind of estimate on how many abortions would actually be PREVENTED by this measure? I submit very, very few. Most aren’t especially complicated or expensive, and funding from private sources is generally available."

Studies uniformly associate the highest abortion rates with the fewest legal restrictions. Evidently many are prevented.

On the other hand, if health care reform doesn’t pass, lots of people will continue to die for the lack of it."

So only the magic formula for health care reform advocated by the President and Congress (whatever is finally offered) will save lives. Any other option, any other choices, will result in needless deaths. How could any sane person stand in the way of such grand and heroic millenial bliss?

Who dies for the lack of health care today in America? Emergency Rooms are obligated to care for anyone, regardless of insurance status.

#8 - talk about the pot calling the kettle black - sheesh!
Obviously you wouldn't know "immoral" if it stood right in front of you. Your position is abhorent to any decent sensibilities.

If that's so, then they should accommodate their pro-life fellow travelers and get this oh-so-vital legislation passed.

MFW: "Pro-lifers" should not be talking about "hitlists" these days. Way too close to the truth. Hey, what's your real name, home address and congregation? Inquiring minds want to know.

Sorry, but holding health care for scores of millions of Americans and 1/6 of our economy hostage to this issue is immoral.
