$5 million NY Senate impasse ends
The New York Senate imbroglio — which held up same-sex marriage legislation, mayoral control in New York City, and other vital bills — has finally ended with the Democratic defector, Pedro Espada, returning to the Democratic fold. Espada and another Democratic colleague, Hiram Monserrate, upset the Democrat’s thin 32-30 majority five weeks ago when they decided to caucus with the Republicans. Monserrate then switched back to the Democrats, under enormous pressure, but Espada held out until now.
When New York is facing serious budget problems, the whole circus cost New York taxpayers $5 million to pay the senators while they feuded through a special session, according to the New York Post: “It could go down as the most expensive circus in state history.”

What’s up with Sen Coburn and his professional immunity, as an obstetrician and a deacon, not to say more about questions he previously discussed with the media?

I realize some of you will soon have eyes glaze over as you read about NYC’s finances, but take a peek here if you dare.
I almost wanna go erect a bill board in NY touting a move to my great state of Texas:
TEXAS. IF YOU CAN MAKE IT THERE, YOU’LL PAY NO STATE INCOME TAX.

It’s going to get even more expensive when they keep spending money, raising taxes, etc. It’s sad that these guys had guts for just so long….

SawGunner, and NJLAWyer,
I agree with you whole heartedly.
It ticks me off to see lines like the whole circus cost New York taxpayers $5 million to pay the senators while they feuded through a special session,
it makes me almost want to strangle the reporter who writes that. The state of new york is failing. And reporters fail to see their own stupidity.
