Obama ties Bush in golf
No, they haven’t faced off head to head on the links, but President Obama, in just nine months on the job, has tied George W. Bush in the number of rounds played while in office: 24. The thing is, it took Bush 34 months to reach that number. The golf statistics come courtesy of CBS’s Mark Knoller, whose job apparently is to keep up with such things.
In addition to tying Bush with his round yesterday, Obama made history with his choice of playing partners: Chief domestic policy adviser Melody Barnes became the first female to ever play in a presidential foursome.

Anything to criticize Obama. The link provided is blocked here at work, but I wonder, does Knoller compare Obama v. Bush vacation days, or hours worked per day?

I do remember the left making fun of Bush for going to the ranch, etc. Pot kettle black.
And as long as we are making comparisons, it seems to me that 1,000 people have already died from H1N1, we saw this crisis coming — and hey, we had a lot more prep time than there was for Katrina — but though the Obama government promised 100 million doses of vaccine, all we have are 16 million doses. That Sebelius is doing one heck of a job there.

“…CBS’s Mark Knoller, whose job apparently is to keep up with such things.”
Does Obama’s administration count Knoller’s job as one they created or one they saved?

Every president is on the job 24/7 no matter where he is.

“Anything to criticize Obama.”
Oh stop whining. What goes around comes around. I seem to remember a lot of criticism for everything Bush did, not to mention the whining about how much vacation he took….
If Obama can’t stand the heat, then get him out of the kitchen.

How does one tell the difference between conservative whining and liberal whining?
There must be a light bulb joke in here somewhere. How many light bulbs does it take to generate a whining noise?

“How does one tell the difference between consevative whinning and liberal whinning?” By the number of irrelevant postings per thread? Just wondering!

Hypocrisy of the leftist (Obama cheerleader) media is the point KWatson.

Knoller is misinforming his twitter readers. Obama didn’t just yesterday tie Bush in rounds of golf. He tied Bush every time he played golf, according to Knoller’s definition of “tie.”

I guess some presidential skills are coming around more quickly than others. Congrats to the President for his quick mastery of this one.

So it took 10 months to surpass Bush in rounds of golf.
But Obama surpassed Bush’s entire 8 years of spending in only a few months.

Maybe the President thought that 18 holes would help him concentrate on the Afghan war decision that he’s been putting off for several weeks.
I’m sure General McChrystal wishes that he had been in the foursome.

Perhaps the generals in Afghanistan should take up golf. Then they would have more meetings with the commander-in-chief.

Do you really have a problem with Obama’s time off, or are you just reveling in a chance to criticize him for something?
Because I remember many of you defending Bush’s vacation time, more than any other president at 879 days over his 8 years. It would just be odd for you to defend Bush’s vacation as a needed respite, but criticize Obama’s vacation as… what’s the word… dithering?
For myself, I believe (as I’m sure you do) that a President needs a certain amount of time off, but excessive down time is a sign that he’s not working hard enough. What constitutes “excessive” is a matter of judgment, but 24 rounds of golf over 9 months doesn’t seem that to me.
Does it to you? And if so, why is that excessive, but 83 days of brush clearing in 9 months (Bush’s rate) was a needed respite for a hardworking man?

Yes and yes.

When Obama shows some signs that he is working hard, I’ll cut him some slack on his vacation time.
Time spent on his eternal campaign does not count as hard work, nor does time spent on softball interviews with Letterman and NBC news.

Honestly?
Yes.

You only have to dig a little bit to hear Obama saying that this level of work was unexpected…..

So you think 24 rounds of golf in 9 months is excessive time off? That’s less than 3 rounds a month. You’re saying a President should not spend a few hours on the green Sunday afternoons, because he ought to be off doing important things.
Did you also criticize Bush for excessive vacationing? If not (even more, if you defended Bush’s vacation time, as most on this site did) what do you think is the significant difference?
Scott seems to think that Bush did “real work” while Obama just… I don’t know… throws plunger darts at the Oval Office wall or something. But this is clearly a partisan judgment informed not by the time or effort the man is putting in, but merely by your disagreement with his results.

I will say something that only President Obama can understand – molodetz vwi slabaki mushina!

I can’t tie either one of them at golf. All i do is chase a little white ball ALL OVER the course.

Bush gave up golf in expiation for Iraq.

Let me finish that sentence for you:
“…while Obama just complained about the volume of work going across his desk”.
Dude. Quit complaining. You asked for it, you campaigned for it, you raised all kinds of money for it, you managed the news networks for it, You managed your PR for it, now buckle down to work and shut up…. I didn’t hear Bush complaining about it.

KWATSON
People complained when Bush golfed at all while there were more important things going on–like a WAR
But everyone thinks it’s ok for Obama to take time off because he is working so hard.

When a Pres. plays golf do they have to clear the golf course of everyone else?
Just wondered.

I told someone one time that I wouldn’t golf because I was afraid of getting hit by the ball. She told me she had never been hit by the ball. The very next time she went out she got hit. I really did feel bad about that. She was one of the people that made me realize that I can’t warn people anymore. Way too many coincidences.
One big coincidence had to do with a football game and a flying six-pack of beer. Way too close!

Uh-oh!
What does Melody look like?
Are there any pics of her standing next to Obama?
Michelle was NOT very happy with him dancing with that hot Spanish number either. See the film.
Oh that’s right, he did it for women’s rights. Riiiight……

It’s true. All knowledge worth expressing can be contained in a wmb comment box. I am still waiting for the condensation of the entire Bible to fit this space.

Random: try “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.”
There you go. The Bible in 1 sentence. The rest of it is more or less explanation of that fact.

Y’know, I think Obama is doing quite enough. There are plenty of reasons and opportunities to criticize his policy without having to worry about golf.
