McDonnell keeps distance from Palin
Tim Pawlenty and Mitt Romney have stumped for the Republican candidate for governor in Virginia, Bob McDonnell. Sarah Palin hasn’t.
Palin hasn’t made campaign appearances in either the Virginia race or the more hotly contested New Jersey governor’s race. Palin’s spokeswoman Meg Stapleton told Politico earlier,
The governor offered her assistance in both races.
McDonnell has run a campaign based on issues like creating jobs and boosting transportation, avoiding fiery conservative rhetoric – and fiery conservatives.
Virginia Faith and Freedom (an arm of the national conservative organization Faith and Freedom headed by Ralph Reed) put out robocalls from Palin in Virginia today encouraging voters to “vote your values.” McDonnell said today that he didn’t know anything about the robocalls. A McDonnell spokesman said the campaign had nothing to do with the calls.

And did BHO campaign for Deeds?
You generally don’t call out your heavy arty unelss you’re about to be over-run.
I’m also suspecting Palin has “high negatives” in old Virginny.

There were also robocalls featuring Mike Huckabee here in VA.

I really, really, really hate robocalls.”
We are supposed to be filled with love. It’s hard to tell a robocall, “But I love you. Jesus loves you.”

I wonder what that means? You mean like smaller government, lower taxes and more liberty?

I live in Virginia. A “fiery” Lady-Republican, Catherine Crabill, will run for our State House of Delegates. I’ve seen her youtube clips, and she is just the sort of fiery conservative we need in VA. But, the Republican Party of Virgnia (RPV) has distanced itself from her, like they have from Palin.
So, this election I pick up the phone when I see the RPV is calling. I tell them why I won’t give them one single dollar until I see some fire and a few good ideas, not just attacks of the opponent.
I live only 50 miles south of DC. It’s election season all the time here!

Then Palin would be a pretty good person to stump for him.
Palin may be “hot” but not fiery. Her rhetoric is fine and I’ve heard nothing radical. Just common sense. But those who are trying to BRAND Palin will call her “fiery” and not even feel obligated to justify this branding label.
I would like Emily Belz to justify her use of the term. No big deal though.

People who do not think for themselves are likely to blindly believe ‘labels’ the media stanp on Palin. Thinking for oneself is not as easy to do.

Because McDonnell is running as a moderate Republican.
My concern is that he may actually be a Palin/Beck/Limbaugh Republican. He did say in his first debate with Deeds that he thought George W. Bush’s economic policies worked well.
Yikes.
But after my weekend researching McDonnell and Deeds, I’ve come to believe that McDonnell is actually a complete and total party man. He is willing to believe whatever the party tells him to believe. That is why he wrote that thesis in the 90’s — the Republican party at the time was all about family values and the danger of gays and working women. And he’s backed off those views now because the party has backed off those views. Now the party line is “less government so business can thrive” and “socialized medicine will destroy the best health care system in the Whole Wide World.” So that’s what McDonnell says.
Disappointing. I was intrigued to see that he has strong moderate support and he got endorsements from key moderates and even leftists. Now I think he’s just fooling them.
My prediction: He’ll play for the moderates now, but once he gets in office, McDonnell will be Mr. Republican.

JJF,
Clearly, George W. Bush’s economic policies did indeed work well, until the Demcrats took congress in 2006. that was the turning point to some bumps in the road and then decline. Before that, we had a fantastic economy and resilient enough to sustain 9/11.

Palin has become a leading force – she has a quick mind, a natural gift which most policitians, both male and female dream of, …… it is not “domineering” it hits the target. The PRESS is AFRAID of PALIN, – they haven’t had to deal with anyone that quick and bright…….EVER – NEVER!

Clearly, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

I honestly think these state elections are smoke and mirrors to mask what is really going on.
Barbara Boxer said that tomorrow the Democrats will unilaterally ram through Climate Bill in the Senate.
This massive energy bill will tax every living creature in the United States that gets food in stores or lives in a home. So much for Obama’s promise to not tax anyone making under $250K.
I’m guessing there will be another smoke screen next month when Obama cedes American sovereignty to a One World Government in Copenhagen.
And notice how October was the deadliest month for US military in Afghanistan and Obama is playing politics and golf and delaying any help to our troops.
Instead, the media focuses on anything except what is actually important.

Let’s see, a liberal black person was elected President. I was a little surprised by that. I thought the first woman might be elected first.
Perhaps next we will have two women run against each other for President, with two female vice presidential candidates?
Hillary and Michelle against Sarah and Condi?
Or maybe Condi and Hillary against Michelle and Sarah?

Not to start a rabbit trail but I’m guessing you were too young to be involved in the mid-90’s or before. Go read up on the Contract With America, then come back and tell us how Republicans have just recently opposed big government.

Virginia! Woa! This is Sarah! I’m calling to ask you to vote our values! I know, I said robocalls were bullmerd, pardon my French. But I gotta sorta sneak up on ya cause the boys don’t want me in! Tactics, baby, tactics!
