Hello! Mickey Mclean! Can you answer me?

Do you know (or have you heard of) someone named Kevin Martin? He is the publisher of Gods’ World News (World for kids) last i checked, i think he lives in Asheville NC, and more importantly, he’s my uncle. So, have you?

Thanks!

Well, TRS, I have to have a guy who does like dogs and doesn't like (or at least doesn't want) cats. I once had a guy friend who had two cats, and he didn't know that was more or less a "deal killer" for me. (If he just happened to have these cats that used to belong to a relative who died, and he didn't care one way or another whether he had cats and they were old and wouldn't live much longer . . . then, if I was interested in him romantically, I'd have considered the cats no major hindrance.) When I found out that he was paying thousands of dollars a year in medical care for his cats, and he had to be home at certain times of the day to give it to them, and that he considered the cats his children, that kept me from even considering our being more than friends. (It turned out there were other issues too, but that one was enough for me.)

One problem with me and cats is that I'm mildly allergic, and just not interested in taking daily medication to put up with an animal I personally wouldn't choose as a pet. If I wasn't allergic to cats, and they would stay off the furniture, and someone else would change the litterbox, then I might consider a husband who had one. As it is, no, I wouldn't! And if I were interested in a guy and found out he didn't like dogs, that would be a "deal killer," too. Now, if we married and found out he was allergic to Misten, that would be a whole different issue--time to get rid of the dog. But if he simply doesn't like dogs at all, we aren't compatible. And honestly, in my mind I don't quite trust a person who likes neither dogs nor cats; I honestly think there's something missing in their humanity. If he likes cats but not dogs, OK, that's fine, we just aren't meant for each other. If he likes neither, that's a red flag to me. (If he likes dogs, as long as they're outside, my thought is that Misten would simply have to have another dog in order to become an outside dog--I wouldn't just leave her outside by herself. And we'd have to live in a place where she could be an outside dog--not in a place with small yards where she'd disturb the neighbors, and not in a hot climate where her double coat would make her uncomfortable.)

I had to have a guy that liked cats. Period. That was a strict criterion, since my dad doesn't like them, and kept our family from having them for many years after one of our cats passed. :-(

I wanted to always have cats. So, my husband wouldn't have made it to the potential husband stage if he hadn't liked them. :-)

Mumsee, I'm glad to hear it. Isn't He good? I think sometimes He wants us to really know we're beyond our own resources so that we'll understand we really are all the time, but He provides.

Thanks for praying. I have no idea how, but we all more than survived the day. Ok, I do know how. He does not expect more from us than He provides the means to do.

TJS - Have you seen the Hallmark commercial where the girl thinks it's kinda weird her new boyfriend has a cat?

I heard that many women think a man with a cat must be sensitive.

#68: Agreed. I'd prefer those. There you go: another personality quirk about me: I'm a guy, but I've never liked sports. Indeed, throughout the fall especially, when it's all anyone talks about, and the television is hogged every. single. night... I grow to hate the whole idea.
