What’s to say? It was an appropriate prayer.
Some secularists may give him some flack for ending “in Jesus’ name”.

Amen indeed.

Thanks to the Uganda kill-the-gays bill, Obama has finally told Sec. Def. Gates and Adm. Muller to start ending DADT.
Obama knew his attendance at the prayer breakfast was a compulsory political test of the office of president. He could understand why it was unethical to attend, even if he took the opportunity to denounce the disgusting legislation with which The Family is involved. Focus on the Family has made matters worse by supporting the concept of criminalizing homosexuality in the US. The only way Obama could attend this loathsome ritual of the political right was by doing something decent, first.

What happens now?
If DADT is gone:
1. Numbers will decline to abyssmal levels at the recruiting office.
2. Heterosexual soldiers that remain will demand sparate housing and/or co-ed barracks.
3. The Libs will finally have a foolproof way to destroy the military…oh good!

Well Scoop while “journalists” like Mickey might think the story here is a football player praying, it’s worth mentioning that both Clinton and Obama took the time to repudiate the Ugandan bill more or less directly to the face of the guy who authored it. I find his participation acceptable if he continues to call their actions “odious” to their face. Sometimes it makes us ring our hands, but it’s all consistent with Obama’s general policy against shunning.

Hey…on topic(for once)
You will never meet anyone who is more of a “Gator Hater” than I am…no FSU fan worth their salt can stand ‘em…but it’s real hard not to be a fan of TT. He’s the real deal!

Obama doesn’t have to tell anyone to start ending DADT. Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is an executive order that Obama, as Chief Executive, can rescind with the stroke of a pen. Pretending to “start ending” an executive order that stays in effect by Obama’s inaction is an exercise in deception.
The law that defines homosexual activity as incompatible with military service is Section 654 Title 10 USC, an act of Congress that Clinton’s executive order directs the military to ignore unless the activity is blatant. Where were the hypocrites who railed against Bush’s signing statements? The practice of stating constitutional objections to provisions of a bill that the President still finds expedient to sign, practiced by previous presidents, is nowhere near the breathtaking hubris of an executive order that directs the millitary to ignore congressionally enacted federal law.
“Supporting the concept of criminalizing homosexuality in the US”??? As if there were never laws against such activity and some malevolent group is busy concocting and pushing fiendish new laws through legislatures. Such overripe rhetoric reeks of a rupture from reality.

“If DADT is gone”
Section 654, Title 10 USC remains in effect. The military will be able to comply with the law. Homosexuality will remain, by law, incompatible with millitary service, until and unless congress rewrites the law.

Inbutnotof, #7. I agree. As a Gamecock, I hate Tebow about three hours a year. The rest of the time, he’s a class act.

Thanks Mickey.
Not a Florida fan at all, but Tebow is fun to watch. As Chas said, a class act.

No, KEN. Focus is advocating criminalization as if SCOTUS hadn’t already declared such laws unconstitutional. Over-ripe and ruptured of them, ain’t it?

Random: Gee whiz, don’t you know that only those who have the right god on their side win? He only helps those who pray the right prayers and really, really, really believe. And what better way to show that than to put non-random letter/numbers under your eyes?
Of course, the Big Guy messes up every so often, but, hey, who’s perfect?

There is nothing that does not “have to do with God.”

How refreshing to hear someone say that life is short and they must hurry now to work for the Lord. That he will have a lot of time to rest in eternity and regain his energy, but his energy here must be used wisely.

If the Old Testament were to be written today, we’d find it full of stories about Evangelical football players and beauty pageant queens who say stuff about Jesus on national TV, painting their faces with Bible verses.
And, as goofy as that sounds, I suppose it’d be an improvement on the stories praising the righteous slaughter of bad priests and Amalekites.

“Lord we don’t know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future. And in that, there’s peace. In that, there’s comfort. In that, there’s hope.”
My favorite part of his prayer. That was just priceless from a boy, who almost never was.

#17 Ree,
I agree with you 100 per cent.

I’m surprised that nobody has taken offense at the way Obama put “incivility” and “public square” in the same sentence. No Republican politician would ever do that. In Evangelical-speak, the term “public square” is a cris de coeur against the wall of separation between church and state, which they regard as intolerable. The phrase is an Evangelical ornament of righteousness.
By saying that the “public square” has gotten nasty, Obama, the swine, trampled the pearl of the breakfast suppliants before the throne of God

Tim got railed for his par performance at the Senior Bowl. Amazing why they’d expect him to overnight be able to throw completely different…sheesh.
He’s a 2 to 3 year qb project, and he’s one worth investing in.
Here’s hoping he goes to a team with a good qb, good qb coach, and not the Raiders…

Hey, they invited Obama. He showed up.
Does anyone REALLY expect him to even ACT like he respects Christianity OR Christians?
Report comment to moderator
That’s exactly how I see it News2me. Obama’s presence or speech means doesn’t grab my interest one bit.
