I am a contently single woman serving as a missionary to Muslims in West Africa. I administrate a literacy program that includes adult literacy classes, literature production in local languages, a library study program for school children and a100-student nursery school. I also teach Muslim women in chronological Bible studies in order to introduce them to the Savior who died for them.

I am originally from western NY (Go, Bills!), but my family have all fled to southern climes. So, when I return to the U.S. every four years, “home” is middle Tennessee (Go, Titans!). The internet provides me access to the world that I would not have otherwise. My village is a bush village about 2 hours travel (depending on the length of the line at the ferry) from the capital city.

Those interested in knowing more about my work in Africa can check out my blog at http://gambiathoughts.blogspot.com/

AkMom

Wife (since ’93) of AK-raised bush mechanic/pilot who went back to school (NDSU) to get a civil engineering degree after Daugher #1 (’94) was born. A year later we rounded out our quiver with Daughter #2 and her twin brother. “We” graduated in 2000.

RN – currently not gainfully employed; camp nurse. Homeschooling Mom. Finally getting the education I didn’t get 40 years ago and grateful for the opportunity.

No TV – but MomMom and PopPop live just down the road, so we make TV events (eg. National political conventions, election night results) a social family occasion. Enjoy old movies/music.  Have lived to regret introducing my kids to “M*A*S*H*.”

Since having kids, get misty-eyed at the slightest provocation.  This is source of amusement to the offspring. Embarrassing when picking out baby shower gifts in the children’s book section at the bookstore.

Talk radio in the car when not listening to books. Current fav’s – Dennis Prager and Michael Medved. Fav. radio preacher – Alistair Begg.

I’m 52 years old and live in Rose Hill, Kansas. I married late in life (at 49) to Bih-Jau, a Chinese woman now 50 years old who also married late in life, who moved here from Austin, Texas after I proposed; we have no children but are very happy. BJ has a PhD in economics but now does what she has always dreamed of doing — homemaking. I have a BS in chemical engineering and am near completing degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics. I have worked with missile systems for 20 years now. BJ and I are both evangelical Christians attending First E-Free in Wichita. I love learning engineering, history, modern cosmology and philosophy, while BJ loves music and travel. For exercise I jog and BJ swims. I started my journey with Christ when I was a 20 year old student at Kansas State University. God has been good to me, and everyday I ask, “O Lord, please be merciful to me a sinner.”

Amphipolis

I am a 40-something social conservative who has been sporadically posting on WorldMagBlog since it started. I have been a Christian since I was a teenager and am in a PCA church. My favorite pastime is to read history, all history.

I live in Central Pennsylvania, although I used to live in inner-city Philadelphia. I’m a husband and father of four school or college-age children. So far we have chosen to educate our children via a combination of homeschool and classical Christian school.I am a consulting engineer who designs and plans highway projects. My wife’s background is in the fine arts and education.

Amphipolis was an ancient Greek city state that got a passing Biblical reference (Acts 17:1). Lots of history: surrender, battles lost, and the ruins of millennia. I also happen to like amphibians. I think WorldMagBlog has made me a tenaciously logical debater.

Anlir

Welcome to my bio! I hope you will take a moment to read a little bit about me, so you will know where I’m coming from and where I’m going. As a longtime blogger on this site, I represent the minority (aka: “liberal”) point of view on politics, society, and religion. I am not, however, an angry liberal. I enjoy interacting with people who’s views and ideas are different from mine, and I welcome your comments and questions. My purposes in blogging are as varied as the weather. I enjoy raising questions and challenging others to think about what they believe and why they believe it. I try to do so in a thoughtful manner, with good humor, and (occasionally) with a bit of sarcasm. I also hope through my blogging to change others and myself, so that we all become more tolerant and understanding of each other. Happy blogging!

Annelisefrench

Not my real name, comes from a time in my past when I lived in French Switzerland for a year and met a girl who was named Annelise—loved it ever since. Was going to name our firstborn this name if she had black hair, but that didn’t happen.

Live in Central Pa., on a hilltop of 14 acres, part of my husband’s family farm for four generations.

Married in 1976 to my best friend, who was and continues to be God’s gift to me.

Four adopted children, all adults now; our youngest will always be our baby as she is mentally-handicapped; God knew what He was doing when He gave her to us!

Became a Christian at the age of 11; went through a searching time after hs graduation—didn’t want to believe it just because I was raised that way; started reading Francis Schaeffer and visited L’Abri; became a Christ-follower and am glad that my feet are on the Rock and that I know my Redeemer lives!

Got an RV in 2005 and love to go camping with our friends in Pa. state parks— favorite so far is Codorus, near Hanover, Pa. Wonderful!

Husband is a professional land surveyor, member of the Gideons and Rotary International.

I was a stay at home mom for 19 years to raise the kiddos, and went back to NICU in 2003.

Foster mom for 17 years, having 50 children share our home and family.

Like to read WorldMagBlog and post occasionally. I enjoy reading Xion, Drill, Victoria, NJLawyer, MakeItMan, Outkast, momoffour, and Peter Levitt. Disagree most of the time with Random Name, Night Train, Scroop Moth, and find Musing confusing.

Hope to visit NE coast, Colorado, Glacier Park, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, Botswana to see my sister and her family, and go back to Switzerland sometime. Easily troubled by fears of the unknown when leaving home, especially if it involves flying.

Looking forward to seeing Jesus and sharing heaven with the redeemed. Heaven will be out of this world … :)

Austen

Born July 21, 1987 in a small mountain town.

Saved by age two.

Married July 14, 2007 in the big city.

Employed by the legal system.

Resident of the sister city to Linz, Germany and Heredia, Costa Rica.

Student of the state (Thank you all lottery players.).

I couldn’t have planned my family and my husband better myself had God allowed me to do so.

I am regularly shocked by the vulgarity of my sin and subsequently so overwhelmed by the love of my King.

Oh, and I love pink bedrooms, sunflowers, the color green, high heels, and Mexican food, and I often appall my husband by behaving like a middle schooler.

My position on faith is first and foremost Christian. To be more specific where I stand on many issues, I consider myself to be Anabaptist. But no persons nor doctrines nor philosophies nor politics usurp the absolute foundation the Bible possesses. In this Book alone we can find answers to all of the major issues we face today.

I think WMB and Christians in general put way too much enphasis on politics. I don’t believe Christians should be involved in such, and I am neither registered Republican nor Democrat. My favorite verse is from Isaiah 40:31. But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

And the banner for my household is from Joshua 24:15. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD..

Married Mary Anne 1973
I am a Baptist, American (Northern) until my church left because of disagreement over gays. As a representative, I voted to leave. My wife and I adopted two boys and a girl at 12 yrs old, 10 years old, and 12 years old. I am a conservative Republican who taught most of my career at Jr high/MS in Watts and just north of Watts. My school, Charles Drew, was always considered one of the toughest in Los Angeles City Schools. Tookie Williams went there, the Crips started there, both before I got there. Drew has been in the bottom three performing schools in LAUSD forever, often the bottom school. I retired and Mary Anne (teacher) will next year. We are building in Crescent City, CA. Redwood country! We are running away from our kids…

I’m 46, married for 28 years and have 2 adult children (boys) I was born, raised, and married as a Mormon, I became a Jehovah’s Witness in my late 20’s, after many years of Bible study I converted to Christianity. The greatest loves of my life are: The Lord, my wife, my children, my future grandchildren, and my cat in that order. Politically I’m very conservative and lean towards the Constitution Party though my kids often accuse me of being a yuppie liberal. I am an English teacher and I’m currently living on the Island of Guam. Last semester I had the privilege of teaching at SYU in Wuxi, China.

My wife and I hope to relocate to China when she retires in 2014 to teach English as long as we are physically able. We believe this is the way we can best serve the Lord in our later years.

Contented-Joy

First and foremost I am a recipient of the love and forgiveness of Jesus the Messiah. If He could love someone like me, then there’s hope for all.

I am a card-carrying alien, I immigrated to the United States 14 years ago. I was actually born on the Planet Earth, so I prefer the term “foreigner.”

I am married to my best friend. I am a full-time mum to six children. I have always cared for the disabled, and now I get the privilege to do that every day. My 8-year-old has severe autism, and he is actually sitting on my head and humming as I type this.

I love to read, some of my favourite authors are Ted Dekker, Brandt Dodson, and John Bevere. My favourite composer is Ravel, and I love Celtic and Hebrew music. My favourite artists: my Nana and my autistic son. I like my coffee weak, sweet, and milky—to balance out the raw veggies.

“The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knows those who trust in Him.” Nahum 1:7  :-)

I admit I plagiarized the name from a book of the same name. It’s a good read and will make you laugh and wonder. Wonder is good at any age.

Faith: Raised fundamentalist Christian, but changed during Christian College. I believe in a Creator, in redemption and judgment and have faith that all is as it is to be.

Politics: Depending on the issue I can sound libertarian, conservative or liberal. I call myself moderate.

Me: The core is loyal, stubborn, analytical, sarcastically humored, skeptical, spiritual, verbal and curious. My best friends like to call me real, something I secretly dislike. External observers see an Athabascan/Scottish female. I have been in a significant relationship with a woman for over five years. Some folks think that means I am defined by it — frustrating, but people seem to need their labels.

Work: I work on international human rights issues.

Cuthalion

Cuthalion is a politically conservative follower of the Way who generally lives in Washington State. Although relatively inexperienced in the industry, Cu hopes to one day design video games that will tell stories designed to make the gamer receptive to the gospel of Christ. Having grown up “wasting time” playing video games whenever possible, Cu noticed the tremendous void in “Christian games”. ( I.e., they barely exist.)

During spare time, Cuthalion likes to write lyrics and music, play games, email friends, and waste time on worldmagblog. Cu tries to be eloquent in any comments, having an affinity for commas and large vocabularies. Grammar and spelling have always come fairly easily to Cuthalion, making other citizens’ typos a target for sometimes undue ridicule. Cuthalion believes in the God of the Bible; young-earth creationism; Biblical marriage; and complete human rights for the unborn, the disabled, and human clones.

Who describes himself as a born-again, non-denominational Christian libertarian, is a prosecutor in Southern California. He is a husband, and father of two boys. He’s into baseball, running, film and astronomy. Among his heroes are Mark Steyn, George Mueller, and Karl Bushby. He believes in original intent and federalism, supports school vouchers, is skeptical about global warming, subscribes to the Mars Hill Journal, and thinks we’re sacrificing our kids on the altar of materialism. An avid reader, he thinks popular entertainment (television, internet, Ipods, etc.) has become the opiate of the masses, and we all should spend more time unplugged and outside. He believes Islamic terrorism will probably get worse, and if more were spent on technology and covert intelligence, less would be needed for conventional warfare. Based on the family histories of several gay friends, he believes that nurture, more than nature, makes one gay.

Pipe and cigar smoker. Fedora wearer. Education: Master’s in Library Science and bachelor’s in English and French; diploma from the Sorbonne in ‘98. I currently work in a marketing/writing capacity. Stay at home Mom for 24 years, married to my best friend for 30 years, Southern Baptist for more years than I’m willing to say. I enjoy teaching at our homeschool co-op and in SS. I have the greatest job in my church choir. I get to tell everyone where to go and where to stand. My husband loves the fact I have an outlet for my bossiness. We just started our 19 year of homeschooling. We have three college age kids and one still at home.

DesignerGirl and her family live in a small town in Wisconsin, near the Twin Cities of Minnesota. She grew up in rural Minnesota. DR

I am a conservative Christian (Wesleyan tradition), aged 19, and currently studying History at a University in the great state of Michigan, where I have completed two years of coursework. A Republican by party affiliation, I pay less attention to the party of a candidate than to his stated beliefs and public record. I have been a poster and reader of WMB for 4 years now, and enjoy seeing the cross-section of ideas expressed on the blog. I tend to read more than comment now (time constraints), but I’ll still chime in with my $0.02 when I decide to.

Dr. Dave

Age: 64, Married (Dorothy Rae), three children–one deceased, two grandchildren (one on the way). Member and Elder, South Dayton PCA.

Graduate of University of Minnesota and University of Illinois. Received Ph. D. in Social Psychology with minors in Mathematical Statistics and Computer Science. Did research/teaching for 11 years at Washington University in St. Louis. Left academia to head Artificial Intelligence (AI) research group at a major computer manufacturer. Currently working on Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grants for a small defense contractor using AI techniques. In my spare time, I do exploratory research on prediction of protein folding from knowledge of the amino acid sequence in the protein. I also read widely and teach an adult Sunday School class in Apologetics. I enjoy walking, swimming, and taking vacations. I thoroughly enjoy discussing the reasons why faith in God is rational and why a Christian world view is the only world view that is consistent with and reflects reality.

Drill

The Old Man, Drill, asked me, his Chief Dog, to write this ‘BIO’ for him. Claims he’s ‘too busy’. HAH.

He CLAIMS to work in ‘education’ but doesn’t even know how to PROPERLY scratch a dog’s belly!

He’s married to a little bitty flower-planting female-thing with an amazingly POWERFUL backhand swing using a broom.

Got kids who are grown (or mostly grown), hence TOTALLY useless.

CLAIMS to be a Christian and half-heartedly works on appearing all sanctified, like some sort of constipated saint. HAH. If he was all that HOLY, then he’d be feeding us dogs better stuff than lousy cheap DOG FOOD all the time.

Finally: He’s GRUMPY. Gets mad at harmless stuff like when I upchucked half a possum on some uptight preacher’s dress shoes when he came visiting last Sunday.

Yummy possum, though. Tasted better coming UP then it did going DOWN. Life is good, that way.

Eddie

The name I use on the Blog is Eddie. I am a 40 year old 2-year college English professor in a large urban area. I am married, and I have one pre-teen daughter. I am an Evangelical Christian (Baptist) and a Conservative Republican. Despite the stereotypes some have about “right-wingers”, my political positions are not monolithic, and I do have views on some issues that might be considered Moderate or Libertarian.

My “blogging styles” are varied. Sometimes, I just explain my views. I also like to use humorous, sarcastic and contrarian posts. However, I avoid personal confrontation. Usually, I post my opinion on the original article or on some of the comments, but I’m not really that interested in direct dialogue with other bloggers. (That’s why I use a fake email address! I don’t want to get emails from strangers criticizing my politics!) However, if I am questioned by another blogger, I will respond.

Harris

Since his early days in Ann Arbor he’s spent his time hanging out at the corner where faith, culture, and politics meet.

Belief: Conservative Protestant. By temperament traditional and a bit liturgical; by conviction, moderately Reformed; and to the degree he’s evangelical, he owes it to InterVarsity.

Politics: Centrist Dem, more Ed Kilgore than Jim Wallis. A member of the County Executive Committee for more than 10 years, he enjoys an undeserved reputation as an electoral strategist.

Personal: He is immensely proud of the now-married daughter, a UM grad. He volunteers way too much time as a speech/debate coach at local public high school, and working with middle schoolers at church. At work, the music is Lyle, Aretha and Bruce; when it’s time to go out, strictly classical.

As to work: he keeps busy as a marketing content writer /developer, with clients from religious publishing to Native Americans.

Hsmom3

Homeschool mom of 3 blessings (AKA hsmom3) is (guess what?) a homeschool mom with 3 children she loves teaching. Recently divorced after husband left to become a Catholic monk (long story), she supports her kids as a family physician, working 28 hours a week in 2 long days in an outpatient rural health clinic in the coalfields of the Appalachian mountains. While she works, two younger kids are watched by a Christian homeschool family, and her mother helps out also. 18 y/o daughter is a homeschool graduate who just started Christian college, majoring in dance. Other girl is 10, a brown belt in karate and very computer-savvy. Youngest is 5 y/o son with mild autism – sweet, bright, and challenging. Hsmom3 is a strongly conservative, pro-life Christian who often feels out of place everywhere: no other homeschool moms support their family or are divorced, and no other female physicians homeschool or see the need to. She finds peace in trying to follow God’s will, often failing but repeatedly forgiven!

HRW

Living west of the Hammer and south of the frozen tundra, this apathetic anarchist socialist and agnostic enjoys correcting the deluded masses in need of enlightenment or, at the very least, understanding the irony and contradiction of Christianity and capitalism coexisting. Inspired by Camus’ The Rebel, he understands death to be the submission to the norm and the failure to constantly rebel. Rebellion must be positive and not as lion roaring at what upsets him but as a child seeking to create a new and better world. Perhaps his appreciation for the creativity of youth allows him to enjoy the teaching profession. HRW enjoys the simple life and counts taking care of his daughter, reading and traveling as the sole pleasures in life. Despite the choir preaching, rhetorical excesses and meme reproduction, HRW finds WMB a hospitable place to engage in quasi-logical discussions with alien opinions if not life forms.

Jack Stowage

I was raised ‘Casual Catholic’. I received BA in Computer Science in 2000 from Coe College. Member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity since 1997. Received membership in God’s Kingdom in 1999.

I am concerned by unnecessary rifts between people of different beliefs, and am disgusted by hypocrisy in any quarter. I hold us all sinners, none above another, myself one of the worst. I strive daily to avoid judging other people…

…but fail.

In fact, I strive every day to live to an example that I still fall short of. For that, I suppose I must number myself among the hypocrites. Father of one spunky 13 month-old toddler and (as of 9/21/07) one 14-week-old unborn baby.

Saved by a Grace I haven’t earned, given I life better than I have a right to expect, and united in marriage to a woman I probably will never deserve.

James L.

Twenty-Eight year old Reformed Evangelist. Missionary to the streets of Detroit and it’s local suburbs. Blood-bought and redeemed by Jesus Christ. Sole purpose? To serve Him and preach Christ Crucified to a lost and dying world? Why? Because he saved me from my sin and an Eternity in hell. Blogging? Why not…it’s another way to preach the gospel, and a great way to interact with so many from so far away. I enjoy interjecting into the conversations with my perspective as is it is shaped by the Christian Worldview, but will readily admit, most of the time it is just MY opinion. I currently am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and intend on obtaining a Master’s in Biblical Counseling. Lord willing.

Janie

I was born in 1942, the oldest of four. Although we were taken to Sunday school, my parents are not believers, so my Christian education did not take. In fact, it seemed a vaccination against belief. Under the tutelage of my mother (who almost single-handedly wrote a grant and founded Planned Parenthood in the state I grew up in), I became among the proudest and smartest of radical academic intellectual feminists. I thought Christians were the biggest idiots on earth.

In my mid-thirties, as a single mother of three, I encountered an intentional Christian community whose life-style was novel enough to get past my vaccination. I joined. Now I am a “conservative Christian” with a like-minded husband of 21 years. Though my mother (age 87) still loves me, she thinks I am truly an idiot and can’t fathom how I turned out this way.

I am an Australian, a member of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria. I consider myself “Reformed with a capital R” – meaning covenant theology and predestination are important but that hyper Calvinism is oxymoronic. I am married and have three young children and wait to see if God gives us more. We homeschool our children and advocate the value of the family unit and generational faithfulness. I work in the finance area for a church organization but miss the daily dialogue and witness in the general workplace. I enjoy involvement in most sports by both myself and our two boys, as well as a long term renovation project – our house. Topics of particular interest include family, church leadership, bio-ethics and culture.

Joe B.

Born in Houston, raised in Abilene.

Converted to Christianity in 1973

Faith pursuasion: 5 Point Calvinist in Soteriology. Pre-Trib in Escatology.
Completed BILD international Pastoral Training.

Occupation: Electrical Engineer with a major international Automation firm.

Served in the United States Navy for 13 years and 6 years in the Inactive
Reserves.

Married for 30 years to a former woman Marine. Like any two sensible people on active duty, we got married on a Military Payday. Because she was a “Yankee” from Ohio, my uncle, a WWII vet, would tease her and say, “Girl, we refer to this as a mixed marriage”. He later told me that marrying her was the best day’s work I ever did.

We have 3 children and 1 adopted daughter. Psalm 127:3 “Children are a blessing and a heritage unto the Lord”

My favorite verse in Bible: Psalm 119:”9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word.”

John(Grasping for the Wind)

Although I often visit this site, (I have had other handles, mostly because I forgot what I had used before. I think at times I have used Otter, John and johnotter), I rarely post comments. I live in the Southeast, am married and identify myself as a young Republican with libertarian leanings. I am a graduate of Covenant College and I identify myself as a Christian in the Presbyterian Church in America.

My greatest interest is in literature. My own blog (Grasping for the Wind http://otter.covblogs.com/) is focused on speculative and fantasy fiction. This is a part of our culture that I enjoy a great deal, and I want to identify myself with it, and contribute to it. I enjoy reading, writing book reviews for my blog, and spending time delving into the nuances of literature in all its forms.

I am a 34-year-old part time attorney and full time community college professor. I have JD, MBA, and LL.M. graduate degrees, all from Temple University. I have a general interest in politics, philosophy, and culture. kBells

kBells is married to a Broadcast engineer and is raising a very strong-willed little boy in the Deep South. She spent 19 years working in Christian Television, but is currently a SAHM hoping to sell a sci-fi novel before her son starts to school and she has to go back to work. She is an ecumenical minded Southern Baptist and has never voted for a Democrat for president. Subjects she’s most likely to comment on; abortion, adoption, freedom of speech and religious expression, Christian media, Southerner-bashing.

Posts are often written hastily with a child in her lap and a cat on her keyboard, so please forgive typos. As a matter of fact this bio was written that way and may contain typos.

She likes Celine Dion, had her picture taken with Jimmy Doohan at a Star Trek convention, and once dyed her hair purple by mistake. But, nobody’s perfect.

Keebler

Mid-forties female from the beautiful Piney Woods of Nacogdoches, Texas. Married 1985. 6 children – 3 boys, then 3 girls, ages 5-19. Homeschooling full time. Education: BS Secondary Ed, teaching fields: math and English, Texas A&M. Spent two years teaching in public high school and left to never return, God willing. Conservative, though irritated at spineless Republicans. Husband is family physician. Enjoy quilting, hate dusting. I like my garden as long as it doesn’t take too long to weed. Then I give up. I like order, but can’t seem to achieve it in a house full of children and activities. I read daily while I exercise – usually murder mystery series, but occasionally something more serious or something the children are assigned.

First Methodist (by parents), then non-denominational (Dr. S. Lewis Johnson was our “main teacher”), then finally to PCA and Reformed in early marriage. Stick-in-the-mud about traditional hymns and service and serious about being taught and challenged from the Bible. Currently pianist and Sunday school teacher at our very small church.

Moniker: Keebler – my camp name from 1979-1984

Kennethos

I became a believer in ‘94, two days after enlisting in the Army. God used the military to grow and mature me, take me around the world, and prepare me for college. I left active-duty in ‘98, went into the Nat’l Guard, and went to college. Graduated in ‘02, and responded to God’s call to ministry by going to seminary. Graduated this past May, ‘07. Preparing for military chaplaincy after this. I’m politically and theologically conservative, reflecting the Bible’s position as much as possible. I’m married, and have a daughter thus far.

Kevin

I’m a home-churching evangelical gentile practicing Messianic Judaism (see “God-fearing gentile” in Acts). My journey to this point started in the Nazarene church, through a Reformed Presbyterian college, to home-churching, to where we are now; picking up an ex-Episcopal wife and ACA in-laws along the way.

Politically I’m a small government Republican, quite conservative on fiscal, social, legal and governmental issues. Although I support the current presidential administration I feel that they and the prior Republican-lead Congresses could barely be considered conservative, particularly on fiscal and governmental issues.

When it comes to this blog my practice is to read much and write little. Rather than try to dialog people into changing their minds I’d rather make the occasional salient observation and let folks think it through themselves. I do have my own blog, Kevin’s Korner; where you can go for more information on me.

Kevin B

Religious pigeonhole: evangelical, non-specific – background in Baptist, Presbyterian, CCCC, Foursquare and Open Bible churches, presently active in a Baptist church
Political pigeonhole: leaning conservative. Have yet to vote for a non-Republican presidential candidate, but try to keep an open mind and have crossed over occasionally in state and local matters.

Other facts:
- Born 1957 and raised in Southern California
- Majored in computer science at a reputable science/technology university
- Raised missionary-type support to work 12 years for two missions support agencies in Pasadena
- Now conventionally employed in MIS/IT work
- Moved to Ann Arbor area in 1995 to be near wife’s family
- Two children, 15-year-old girl and 10-year-old boy
- Daughter homeschooled through 9th grade, now at a charter middle college; son still homeschooled

Kevin N

I’m in my mid 40s, very happily married, with four wonderful children. I have an M.S. in Geology, and currently work as a science teacher in a school for children of missionaries.

Faith: Member of an Evangelical Free Church. I want worship and doctrine that begin with Christ and what he has done for us rather than on what we do for him.

Politics: Conservative, but not too happy with the Republican party, especially on environmental issues.

Science: All truth is God’s truth. I’m an old-earth creationist.

I’m most likely to comment when:
- The topic is science or the environment.
- Someone has a bad argument against Christian faith (e.g. unicorns, bats, contradictions in the Bible).
- Someone has a bad argument for Christianity that adds fuel to the skeptic’s fires. I do this so that Christians will be strengthened and
skeptics might perhaps learn and repent.

KI

KI is a married woman in her mid-fifties with three married daughters and six grandchildren. Her husband of 35 years is a retired iron miner. She was a SAHM for many years, volunteering often at church and school. She loves to read, bake and quilt. Her husband performs country music and builds fiddles. They often travel to music jams, fiddle contests and to visit their children and grandchildren.

She has two years of college. Her husband graduated with a history degree and is a thesis short of his Masters of Theology. Their relationship with Christ is the most important aspect of their lives and this is reflected in their reading and studying. KI was raised in the Catholic tradition, even attending a Catholic grade school. She now attends a Free Lutheran Church.

Both KI and her husband were active in the Democratic Party, but are now independent voters with conservative leanings.

I am WorldMagBlog’s token Southern White Trash or Southern Belle (depending on the day). I am the mother of one Precious Baby Girl, one Uppity Calico Cat, and one adorable Baby Boy Dog. I share custody of the daughter and the dog with my ex-husband, who as it turns out is the best “big brother” an ex-wife could want. I swear daily that I am taking him back to court for Puppy Support in that Baby Boy Dog turns inside out for his attention and gladly hops in the car and leaves with him. I have been posting on WorldMagBlog since sometime in November 2004. I freely admit it is an addiction that I am not willing to give up. I hope that at some point I have brought some humor into someone’s life here.

I am a real estate broker and have seen the ups and downs of the current market. I am living proof that God never gives you more than you can handle. (Oh how I hate that statement). I am very thankful for the people I know on this site; you have all been the best! Life is good. It isn’t always great, but it is always good.

With an empty nest, I have time for blogging and a new career as a freelance writer. I’m currently working on the memoir I’ve been threatening to write, a serious writing course, and various freelance projects.

I am an Evangelical Christian who also happens to be an ultraconservative Republican with libertarian and objectivist leanings. Only a vague link connects the two things, and the first is much more important than the second.

I don’t recognize myself in the stereotypical Evangelical or Conservative. I am an ordinary guy who respects his wife and children and who tolerates opposing viewpoints. I abhor prejudice and believe that it is inconsistent with being either a Christian or a Conservative.

I wish that Jack Kemp had been elected President, and that the United States would actually try capitalism before deciding it is no good. I don’t think that America is a Christian nation, but Christians should play an active role in politics, as the First Amendment guarantees the right to.

I am a teacher, a missionary, a musician, and a family historian.

Lance

Born and raised near Sheboygan, WI, now living in western Lower Michigan, close enough to pick up many radio broadcasts of my beloved Brewers over the big lake.

I once fostered a neighborhood rivalry with George H. W. Bush after his presidency, eventually forcing him to move out in frustration after his wife made him apologize to me for spanking my son. After that, Gerald Ford moved in, and we got along great. (Okay, okay, that wasn’t me. But it does underscore my appreciation of Homer Simpson.)

Like Homer, I am male, married, and have three kids, and our house also contains a dog and a cat. I also have a somewhat short attention span, despite continuing to be gainfully employed. Unlike Homer, I am serious about my Christianity and spiritual matters, and regularly attend an Orthodox Presbyterian Church.

Today we are appointed as the Area Coordinators for The Salvation Army in Northern Russia, living in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Fiscal conservative

Marie

I was raised in an atheist home, but became a Christian at 21. I am product of the public school system but I homeschool all of my children. I live in the SF Bay Area, but I am a registered Republican and active in political campaigns. I was in a feminist theatre troop but am now pro-life conservative Presbyterian. I am a liberal’s worst nightmare!

Prior to my conversion, I was a high school dropout, an actress and punk wannabe living in San Francisco, a registered Democrat (at age 16!) and voted for Jello Biafra for Mayor.

I love to read, I love to write (I have a blog of my own, Things We Said Today, at www.thingswesaid.blogspot.com). I work from home as a scheduler and as a Watkins associate. Buy my vanilla.

Marilee

Marilee long ago turned her heart and life over to Jesus Christ, her Saviour, Guide, and Friend, and hopes to someday hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant; enter into the joy of the Lord.” In politics, she wishes there would be more statesmen who put the best good of the country ahead of partisanship, one-uppmanship, and personal glory. She is a people-watcher (and, hopefully, a caring listener). She is determined to notice small blessings in the midst of a tumultous world. She likes to write, blog, read, research Pacific Northwest History, work with web pages, and explore the joys of creating artwork via computer graphics programs.

Most of first 17 years lived in Mexico as MK. Served 5 years of married life as missionary to Mexico (three as pastor). High school teacher and principal for 12 years.

Wrote Sunday School commentary for Christian Light Publications for 13 years.

Online since mid-1995 when I launched the first Web site (http://www.anabaptists.org/) focused on Anabaptist-flavored conservative Christianity.

Enjoy teaching and public speaking. Also reading, writing, chess, volleyball, ping-pong, softball. And email and Web discussions.

Interested in encouraging, edifying, and peacemaking.

Current events “addict” for a long time so must be careful with my Internet use.

Sideline interest in politics (though I should be on the front lines in prayer).

“That I may know Him.” “Seek ye first the kingdom of God.”

MenLikeTreesWalking

I’m a medical student living in Baltimore, Md., with a desire to see God worshiped by all peoples—my aim is to eventually become a frontier medical missionary after I finish my training. So far I’ve been to Haiti, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, and Yemen, but I could very well end up somewhere else.

Until then, I like to play music, read lots, hang out with my 13 siblings, hang out with friends, volunteer and worship at my church, and blog: “I see men like trees, walking.”

Theologically, I’m a Presbyterian (PCA) fan of humble orthodoxy. I love Tim Keller, John Piper, and Mark Driscoll. Politically, I’m libertarian-ish with a dash of right-wing fanaticism (on life issues especially) and a hint of left-wing idealism (on health care especially.) But mostly I think that all Christians ought to live faithfully & obediently to the Bible as they love Jesus and love others.

Metanoia

Husband of one and father of 3. Wife is a saint who has put up with me for 34 years and counting. Children all grown, out of the house and committed Christ followers. Life begins when the children leave home and the dog dies. Born in large Midwest urban city, currently living in mid-sized Southeastern city. Politically a moderate conservative with libertarian leanings. Hobbies include reading, fishing, reading while fishing and fishing while reading. Good reader, not a good fisherman

Convergence Christian; similar to the emerging church but without the wackiness. Currently working in a Christian college training church planters, evangelists.

Love good food! Doctor says my weight is fine, but need to grow another 7 inches. Love sports, especially my beloved Cubs, Bears and Bulls.

Michael Martin

…is my real name, and used for some measure of personal accountability. I try not to say things out of irritation that I would be embarrassed to have any of my friends read. I am a Christian of the reformed faith and a member of a PCA church.

I am a conservative Republican. After graduating from a service academy, I served for 20 years, including one tour in Vietnam flying helicopters. After retiring from the military, I flew fifteen years for one of the major airlines. Now retired from flying altogether, I am the computer lab director at our local Christian school.

My wife and I have been happily married for 40 years with one adopted son and two homeless cousins as “our” children. Jesus Christ, as the one true God, has given me my reason for being and my destiny. That colors everything I say on this blog.

michelle

Blogging here since December 2003, “michelle” uses the lower case “m” as a humbling reminder of what happens when you react to a post and don’t pause long enough to think or edit. Long married, a Bible study leader for a quarter of a century and a 21-year volunteer for crisis pregnancy centers, the “retired” Navy wife should be writing her novels when not visiting WorldMagBlog. Realistically, however, she’s probably reading, working in the Christian publishing industry or chauffeuring her teenager in Sonoma County, California.

Religion: Raised Catholic. Trusted Christ as Savior in my teens. Baptist for many years. Now solidly Reformed and currently attending a Reformed Presbyterian Church.

50+ year old: believer (around 35 yrs), wife (28+ yrs), mother (4 soon to be 8), grandmother (1), living in the little house on the prairie of Idaho, four dogs, lots of roses, baby trees, and deer to eat them all. Lived in several interesting places around the world, happy to be back. Believe people should be responsible for themselves and their neighbors, not the gov’ts’ job. Believe believers need to be encouraged to The Standard, nonbelievers are not expected to adhere to it.

N

NJ Lawyer

Conservative by nature and in my political leanings, I went to law school in my thirties, am now middle-aged and working in the mortgage industry, having decided that much about the legal profession is too adversarial. I believe our Founding Fathers created a superb form of government with our Constitution, but I also believe that God’s Word is inerrant and should not be compromised. (Needless to say, that makes me a Baptist.) Visiting the blog is an enjoyable pastime: it’s a great place to find out what people from all over the country who have similar religious and political views are thinking, especially since NJ is a “blue” state. Not that I don’t appreciate learning what proponents of the opposing viewpoint have to say. I am fortunate that my cat objects to my participation in the blog only if it interferes with his meals.

Married 50+years. My Sarah and I have 4 daughters and 1 son, who have given us 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Our greatest concern is that our nation has deteriorated in our relationship with our Creator God, due to the 4 decades of godless academic influence that has given us a godless body of judges. Our descendants have to live in the culture that has emerged in our lifetime. Shame on us for letting it happen.

While in college Jeff interned for Senator Jesse Helms and in the spring of 1986 was on temporary White House staff under President Ronald Reagan. A conservative Republican all his life and a born-again Christian since 2000, Jeff married Mindy Sampson in 2007. Between them they have three children: Aletheia (1995), Laura (1995) and Skyler (1997). When he’s not writing, Jeff enjoys live music, traveling, soaking in his hot tub and spending time with his family.

I am who God made me, nothing more.

Though I was born and raised in Tucson, AZ, I now call Northeast Missouri my home, living with my wife and two youngest daughters. An older son and daughter have gone on to life. I teach high school Spanish across the river in Illinois.

As to religion, I am a Christian in a non-denominational, sovereign grace church. My politics are conservative/libertarian.

I love life to the fullest and usually don’t care what others think of me. I enjoy being outdoors, but am not an “outdoorsman”. I am a fan of sports, and root for the Chiefs, the Diamondbacks and the University of Arizona.

I like to read, but don’t get a lot of time during the school year. I try to read one biography, one other non-fiction and several modern and classic novels during the summer.

Peter Leavitt (formerly known as Solon)

Religion: Member of a Trinitarian Congregational Church with a conservative minister presiding. My paternal family members originally were Congregationalists when they came to Boston in 1635. Our present congregation is involved in strenuous though civil debate with the national Congregational church which has essentially caved to secular liberalism.
Politics: Social and political conservative. Classic economic liberal.

Peter V.

Borrowing a line from Mike Huckabee, I am a born again Christian, but I am not angry about it. Rather when I read about some of the things that are frequently argued about on WMB it makes me sad. I wish that everyone shared my religious beliefs, but understand that there are many who do not believe in God. My desire is to live at peace with all, as much as it depends on me. Please remind me of this if I start railing on someone on this blog.

I am married, (11 years now) and have 3 beautiful daughters ages 8, 6 and 3 whom my wife homeschools. We live in the beautiful northwoods area of Wisconsin.

I am usually a lurker on this blog, only occasionally posting. But almost always enjoy the conversation.

Phil W

I am a Christian, a conservative, and a Republican. I’m probably a Crunchy Con, but I don’t know if that term has negatives I want to avoid. I have voted for Democrats in local elections b/c they were solid, conservative individuals, but by and large Republicans support my values and I vote by ideology. Honestly, I don’t understand how anyone could vote any other way.

I blog at Brandywinebooks.net, a lit-blog I’ve had since 2003. I’m primarily interested in art and literature, but I don’t have a strong experience base so I am not very interesting to listen to. I support the National Endowments for the Arts and Humanities and limited government. I think the federal Dept. of Education has a place in our country, and that our public schools are close to ruined by liberal idiocy. I don’t necessarily think you need to make your kid take piano, but I do think you probably need to simplify your lifestyle.

Pinon Coffee

There was rioting in the streets the day Pinon Coffee was born, and she denies all responsibility. Currently, she’s the office fashionista and receptionista; teaches Sunday school and Awana at her Bible church; drinks both tea and coffee; reads Star Wars and English lit with equal verve; and learns random languages for fun. She’s Christian, conservative, has a Presbyterian boyfriend, and her favorite Shakespeare play is definitely Macbeth.

Randall

I am a believer in Jesus Christ, active in church from childhood. I married a Baptist preacher’s daughter 25 years ago and have two grown sons and two fine daughters-in-law. I have taught 5th and 6th graders in Bible School for over 20 years. I believe the Bible is true, but I do not understand much of it. I am a bench chemist, pro-life, pro-Intelligent Design, pro-constitution or “letter of the law,” proud to be an American. I pray for our President, congress and the court leaders daily even if I do not agree with them.

I have had two letters to the Editor printed in World, one of which was a post on WMB.

Random Name

In Jan 08, I will be 64, married 42 years to a woman with whom I am almost completely incompatible. Both from dysfunctional families, we strove to raise a healthy, happy daughter. That she is now 41 and still speaks affectionately to her parents is our proudest achievement in life. When we observe her relationship with another woman, we ask, “Is this the worst you can do to us? We can deal.” We consider her partner’s three-year-old daughter our granddaughter.

I call myself a Radical Agnostic, close to atheist. I don’t believe in life after death. I don’t know how the universe began; I don’t believe in making up stories about things we don’t know.

I am often satirical and sarcastic; on courteous request I will not address you sarcastically (if reciprocated).

I invite you to read my blog, aptly named “Vanity Press.” at the address modestypress.wordpress.com

Exactly 150 words.

Hobby: Sailing the Croatian coast…but not often enough.

Rick T

Background: Born 1952, born again in Jesus 1976, married 30 years to a loving, patient wife; it is joy to grow together old. Am caring for my aging parents, and enjoying our three wonderful 20-something daughters, who love Jesus.

Location: Silicon Valley; project manager for large software company

Core faith: evangelical, conservative Christian. The Bible is inerrant in its original writing. God creates people as eternal beings; for all eternity, we will either live with Jesus, or live separated from Him.

Politics: conservative Regan Republican; small government, sanctity of life, personal responsibility, strong defense, secure borders, steward God’s resources

Activities: teaching adult church Sunday school and Bible studies; reading (Business as Mission, science fiction); TV; sci-fi and adventure movies; electronic gadgets; classic rock and Christian hymns and praise songs

Science, technology, politics, or being nice will not save us. Our only hope is Jesus, in this life and for eternity.

Rio

Rio is a Christian teenager who is not afraid to stand up for what he believes in, and will try to back up his arguments and views as logically as possible. He is known to be a homeschooler and his location of residence is said to be somewhere in North Carolina, but these reports have yet to be confirmed, and his exact whereabouts remain unknown. He is into nice, fast cars; a wide variety of music ranging from singers like Hayley Westenra and Josh Groban to Celtic singers and bands to assorted CCM artists and much more.  He likes action/adventure/thriller movies, TV shows and novels, and his favorite author is Ted Dekker. His political and religious beliefs are somewhat difficult to pin down, like other things about him, but he generally identifies as a conservative. Little more than this is available about him at the moment.

Rob Hays

Age: 26

Location: The Lone Star State

Occupation: Salesman, part-time sports writer & freelance

Religion: PCA Presbyterian. With a dash of emergent. (i.e. I have a tattoo.)

Family: Troubled middle child. Never married, with a niece and nephew who are dreadfully spoiled by their uncle.

Education: home schooled (shhhhhh. Don’t tell.) ; B.S., Texas A&M University, Cell Molecular Biology

Websites: Houstonist.com (Sports Editor), Spear And Magic Helmet (personal blog)

Favorite Beer: New Belgium 1554 (important to know if you ever meet me)

Rob has been posting on WMB for about a year and a half, mostly when the opportunity arises to deliver a snarky, contrarian Christian opinion. When not on WMB, Rob can be found cruising the highways in his Mini Cooper named Vesper, volunteering at a local farmer’s market, attending a concert by some obscure indie band, or grousing about the Astros. He enjoys long walks in the grass, and puppies. But then again, who doesn’t?

RonD

I’ve been around this blog for a few years and if time allows and the spirit moves on a topic, I enjoy mixing it up for a couple of reasons. One is to clarify/validate my positions for myself. The other is to sharpen my ability to clearly and convincingly present my positions in social situations, not only among peers, but especially when explaining to the young and searching why I believe what I do. WorldMagBlog is a good place to confirm and practice taking arrows.

As for the rest: Evangelical Christian

Bibles: The Companion Bible and The Concordant Literal New Testament.

And: My Wife, Kids, Grandkids, Single Malt Scotch, Blue Moon, Guinness, The Blues (all vintages), Classic Jazz, Classic Rock, 1959 TR3, Golf, Fly Fishing, and Baseball and lastly, Appendiceal Adenocarcinoma.

RR

What I’m about: glorifying God and enjoying Him forever. Not there yet on either count, but ya shoulda seen me before.

Religion (from the foundational to the specific): Christian / Evangelical / Reformed / Presbyterian / PCA.

Vocation: (M-F) municipal money man; (24/7) husband to one fine wife and three (fine) elementary-aged children.

Why “RR”? It stands for “reluctantly reforming,” a nod to both my being dragged kicking and screaming toward Reformed theology years ago, and the internal war between old and new that rages on today.

Favorite Joke: two peanuts were walking down the street, and one of them was assaulted.

Miscellaneous Factoids: I almost play the guitar, watch LOTR too much, was raised in the Worldwide Church of God, and believe Disney is the Antichrist. My parenting style involves catechism, puns, and Nerf gun fights.

S

Sarah D

Profile: Young, Married, No kids (yet)

Religion: Hard core Jesus Freak, non-denominational church, Reformed Theology for the most part

Political leanings: Conservative, though I’m convinced that christians and politics will never mix well. The system is too far degraded for anyone of truly good character to make a real difference, if they even got far enough in the election process to make a difference.

Work: I do, all the time, if not at my job, then at home. I’d rather put all my energy in at home, but alas, the Lord has not seen fit to allow that at this time.

Education: I have one. I ‘m always wanting to learn more.

Things I love: My husband, reading – mostly Christian fantasy (or clean fantasy with a very strong spiritual tone), cooking, quilting, gardening, music (of all kinds, especially Christian rock (Stavesacre my fav) and rap (John Rueben is so great)).

On Blogging: I’m newer to the blogging realm, and I haven’t commented really at all (except for Whirled Views, I love those!) but I am always here, reading as much as I can when I’m not super busy at work. Once I get a little more comfortable with the banter I’ll make my presence better known.

Married 5 July 1999 with two daughters (8 and 6 years old) with 3rd due . . . any day now.

Calvinist theology: Self-admitted “fundagelical theocon” heavily shaped by Bill Buckley, Richard John Neuhaus, and their respective periodicals. Regular WMB visitor who also reads Human Events, OpinionJournal.com. and other web sources for news and info.

ProLife views preceded Salvation. (With most folks it’s the other way around!)

Education: BS/BA The Ohio State University (Go Bucks! – oh, did I already say that?)

Family: Married, two kids (one of each)

Religion: Born Lutheran, recently changed membership to Methodist

Political leanings: Lifelong Republican, not because their candidates are of such great moral fiber, but that the Democrats seem even worse (plus they always want to raise my taxes!)

Career: IT, mainframe systems (gosh, how old IS this guy?)

Hobbies: several, but none worth mentioning

Favorite movie: The Princess Bride

I’ve been coming to WorldMagBlog since it started and have occasionally written in. I live in Cedar Hill, TX which is directly south of downtown Dallas…the last city in Dallas County. I’m the children’s librarian at the public library and I really love the discussions on books. I’ve been a Christian since I was about 6 years old and have consistantly attended Baptist churches. I love to read, cross-stitch and watch NASCAR racing. Go Tony Stewart!!!!!

Stephen Tilson

Stephen Tilson is not the manager of Southend United, nor did he play for them. He was born in Virginia, grew up in Tennessee, Mexico, and Virginia (in that order), and now teaches middle school in Georgia. He is a Christian who, though having been forgiven much, still works at loving much. His conservatism is social and political, rather than economic, much to the consternation of his father. He likes basketball, New Covenant theology, chess, basketball, computer games, no-bake cookies, basketball, writing, movies, basketball, science fiction, military history, basketball, and basketball.

StuBob

I wasn’t going to do one because I wasn’t posting very much before, but since my reading and posting activity has increased in the past few weeks, I guess I could let you in on a few of our secrets.

My husband and I have been married for 16 years.

We have 6 children. Well, 7, but this latest one will be in the oven for awhile. In case you haven’t figured it out, we don’t do birth control. On purpose.

We home educate and have since the beginning.

I homebirth unassisted, with my family around me.

We attend a non-denominational family integrated church.

I actually remember thinking that when I reached 30, I would be old. Just goes to show you how foolish one can be in one’s youth. Now, I think I’ll be old when I reach 40. But if God keeps blessing us with children, I will continue to be too busy to know what being old is.

TJ (aka the original TJ)

Male, 40, married to (fellow commenter) Cameron (no children)

Raised in the church, rebelled against the faith, formerly anti-religious, now a pastor. Became a Christian in 1988 while in college.

Reformed, Presbyterian, Postmillenialist, Presuppositionalist. Former high school and college mathematics teacher. Conservative, both religiously and politically.
Lived in south Georgia for 33 years, then South Carolina, then Mississippi, then Georgia again, and now Kentucky.

Likes: baseball, college football (Go Braves! Go Dawgs!)

Favorite theologians: John Calvin, Greg Bahnsen, Graeme Goldsworthy

Real first name: Tim

Favorite places visited: Scotland, London, Boston, Pigeon Forge

Favorite food: Chinese

Pete Peeves: Bad arguments and bad exegesis

Background: 41, married nine years to stay-at-home mom, one son on earth, one in heaven. Religion:
Christian, attend a baptist church that doesn’t have baptist in its name. Raised Catholic, quit church after high school, came back to Christianity at age 27.

Political: Registered Republican but not very happy with either party. Those political web quizzes say conservative with libertarian leaning’. Sounds about right.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering

Occupation: Works in the semiconductor industry.

Other: Served six years in Navy, on a nuclear submarine. Plays the French Horn in a community orchestra.

That’s it. Keep it simple. Save the humor for the blog comments. etc. etc. (Is that 150 words? Oh, you meant MAXIMUM? OK.)

TRS

TRS is a 40 something, homeschooling mother of three. She used to teach in public school, then in an Orthodox Jewish private school, and finally in a Classical Christian school before deciding to homeschool. TRS has been happily married for almost 22 years.

TRS is a Conservative Christian, but one who is open to discussion, thought, and looking at things from various perspectives. She believes the Bible is inerrant and God’s Word, but also that people often add on their own interpretations — assuming that these are the only things the Bible could possibly be saying. TRS adheres to the traditional Christian creeds, but tends to believe that Hell will – at the least – be destroyed at the end, and so she does not believe in eternal torture of the unbelieving. TRS fully believes that you can like – and even love – someone, while disagreeing with their opinions or their lifestyle.

Age 54

Married – 34 years -

Southwestern NY state

Evangelical Christian, Conservative

Pro-Life efforts very important to me and worked in that area for many years – support at this time is more on the financial side rather than hands on since I’m very actively involved with my two grandchildren, ages 5 and 3.

A slight adaptation from Emily Dickinson…

I’m nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there’s a pair of us – don’t tell!
They’d banish us, you know.

How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To a critical blog!

Victoria

Married to a wonderful man whom I adore, and a strong Christian.

Affiliated with an Evangelical Church with churches across the US and abroad.

Profession – Medicine within the Corporate world.

My main thrust today is the intense study of God’s Word, including research. There are several false religions and cults today, (more but I focus on just a few) this would include those beliefs in a false god, and false redeemer. Study of these groups and their attempts to delude those who don’t know our Savior require a great amount of time, which I find rewarding.

Can’t believe I was voted ‘class clown’, when I don’t come across that way when posting. My serious side is always expressed first, with an emphasis on logic. However, I love laughter and teasing, and I have a terrible reputation for teasing anyone whom I like.

W

W. Mark Whitlock We live in a parable culture. Friedrich Nietzsche once said, “Better songs would they have to sing, for me to believe in their Saviour.” Our culture screams, “Tell me a better story and then I’ll believe in Jesus.”

I began communicating at Focus on the Family and then engineered/produced the daily radio program “FamilyLife Today” for five years.

I became the acquisitions editor for FamilyLife Publishing in 98. I wrote or worked on resources including Passport to Purity, Jonah: A Very Veggie Family Adventure, and the amazon.com best-seller Simply Romantic® Nights.

In Mar 04, I joined Nelson Ministry Services as a consultant. In Dec 05, I became the Sr. Acquisitions Editor for Gen Reference Books in Nelson’s Bible Group. In Mar 07, I went out on my own as a writer and editor. My wife and I live with our four children in Franklin, TN.

I consider myself a conservative evangelical Christian intellectual. I love biblical apologetics. My theology aligns closely with Charles Ryrie who uses ‘natural language’ hermeneutics to arrive at a dispensational interpretation of scripture. Politically, I support many liberal goals, such as clean environment, energy independence, freedom of speech, etc., but believe liberals oppose themselves. It will take a conservative to help liberals reach their goals. Therefore I usually vote Republican. J

I am nearly 50, married, live in NH and have two teen kids. I love the outdoors and all four seasons. I regularly enjoy cycling, scuba diving and snowboarding. My hobbies are history and dead languages, especially the newly resurrected language of Hebrew and its siblings: Arabic and Assyrian (Aramaic). I have been a Christian for 30 years and regularly teach the Bible. My heroes are CS Lewis and AW Tozer. My favorite movie is Gladiator (can’t explain it).
